Today we pause to honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities forever affected.

The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation acknowledges that we are on the traditional territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, which includes the Chippewas of Saugeen First Nation and the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.

On this day, and every day, we reflect on the importance of truth, reconciliation, and the shared responsibility we all hold in building a more respectful and compassionate future.

🍋 Meet Mikayla! At just 10 years old, she set up not one but four lemonade stands to raise funds for the Oncology Unit at Brightshores Health System

With a smile as bright as the sunshine and a heart as full as her lemonade pitcher, Mikayla poured her love for helping others into every cup. Her efforts raised an incredible $700, and while we were taking these photos to share her story, a passerby was so moved that they added another $10, bringing her total to $710!

Mikayla, you are proof that kindness is as refreshing as lemonade on a hot day sweet, uplifting, and best when shared. 💛

Way to go, Mikayla. You’ve shown us all that even the smallest acts can make the biggest difference.

The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is hosting a community photo shoot at Brightshores Southampton Hospital to create an updated library of images that reflect the people who make up our community.

We are especially looking for seniors of all backgrounds to join us. Your participation will help us capture the warmth, diversity, and spirit of our community for use in Foundation communications such as posters, brochures, social media, impact reports, and more. These photos will become our stock images to share the story of healthcare close to home.

Last night, our Board of Directors had the privilege of presenting $470,000 to Brightshores Health System; funds made possible by the incredible generosity of our community.

Every gift, large or small, helps ensure that people across Grey and Bruce have access to the equipment and care they deserve, close to home. Together, we’re making a real impact in the lives of families, friends, and neighbours.

This moment is a reminder of the power of community spirit and what can be achieved when we work together. While this funding is significant, it represents just a portion of what is needed each year to keep pace with healthcare demands.
