Enhancing Emergency Care with New Digital Tools

To help prioritize patients’ care needs, Brightshores introduced new digital technology in the Southampton and Owen Sound Emergency Departments to make the triage process faster, easier and more efficient.

The new EmergConnect app enables patients to input their symptoms and medical history and indicate how serious their condition feels – information that is shared with the triage nurse for their assessment.

The Gran Fondo Lake Huron Kids Ride was pure joy. From wobbly first pedals to confident laps around the course, our young riders showed us that giving back is bigger than ourselves.

We are so thankful to our Kids Ride sponsors for supporting this special day. Our gratitude also goes out to the volunteers and to the local businesses and organizations who created the fun activity stations that made the loop come alive with laughter and excitement:

The ride wrapped up perfectly with full bellies thanks to the delicious BBQ donated and served by the Port Elgin and District Lions Club.

Together, our littlest champions raised $5,075, contributing to the incredible $430,000 total raised this weekend at Gran Fondo Lake Huron Presented by Bruce Power & Suppliers.

These funds will help bring four Automated Dispensing Units to Brightshores Health System Southampton Hospital. These units securely store and dispense medication, supporting healthcare professionals with the tools they need to continue providing safe, accurate, and timely care.

To every child who rode, every family who cheered, and everyone who made this day possible, thank you. You have shown that even the smallest riders can make a big difference in advancing local healthcare. 💙

🚴‍♂️ It’s the Kids’ Ride today!

This morning, our youngest riders are hitting the road at The Gran Fondo Lake Huron Kids’ Ride!

From tiny bikes with training wheels to future road warriors in the making, today is all about fun, confidence, and community spirit, all while supporting local healthcare through the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.

To every little rider, proud parent, and cheering fan on the sidelines: THANK YOU for making this event so special.

What an incredible day for our annual Gran Fondo Lake Huron Presented by Bruce Power & Suppliers cycling event!

Just over 900 riders from across Grey and Bruce Counties and from every corner of the province took part today.

We want to thank the Saugeen Shores community for making everyone feel welcome. A shout out to the over 100 volunteers who helped ensure everyone had a wonderful experience.

Thank you to all of our sponsors who support this event and bring teams out each year to ride. It's amazing to see how this event has grown over the last few years.

A huge thank you to everyone who fundraised and donated to a rider, you all did an outstanding job rallying for the cause.

A shout out to the Southampton Rotary Club and Three Sheets Brewing for ensuring all the riders and volunteers could cool down with cold drinks from the bar.

It truly takes a village and our community didn't disappoint. This year's ride raised just over $430,000 which will go toward the purchase of 4 Automatic dispensing units for the ER and inpatient floor at the Brightshores Health System Southampton Hospital.

From all the staff and Board members at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation thank you to each and every one of you for being a part of today's event.

Bruce Power supplier partners have donated $100,000 to the annual Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation Gran Fondo fundraising event. Gran Fondo’s annual fundraising bike ride, taking place this Saturday, Aug. 16, brings together families, teams and individuals alike to enjoy a day of pedaling to provide long-term, high-impact improvements to local community health care.

Hey, we get it. Sometimes life happens and plans change at the last minute. This volunteer course marshal spot just opened up and we need to fill it quickly.

Course marshals play a vital role in keeping riders safe, guiding them through the course, and cheering them on as they pass. Your presence helps ensure everyone enjoys a safe, smooth, and fun ride.

Gran Fondo Lake Huron, presented by Bruce Power & Suppliers, is an annual community cycling event supporting the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, dedicated to supporting Brightshores Health System. In this video, Saugeen Shores residents Sue and Jim Caley share their story, honoring their son Brady. CALLING ALL MOTORCYCLISTS!

Want to be part of something epically awesome on Saturday, August 16, at The Gran Fondo Lake Huron Presented by Bruce Power ?

We’re searching for TWO fearless pace riders on motorcycles to lead each of the six routes of riders from the start gate in Southampton.

You’ll rock the start gate from 7 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., guiding our cyclists through the first km out of town for the iconic 10K, 30K, 50K, 75K, 110K and 80K gravel routes.

What’s in it for you?
