The ice on Lake Huron has melted, the roads are opening up, and Gran Fondo Lake Huron is starting to take shape again!

This year, the fundraising goal is $500,000, part of what is needed to help address more than $14 million in urgent needs across Brightshores Health System.

Equipment. Infrastructure. The essential pieces that keep care running safely and reliably. Not always visible, but always critical.

We pause to remember and honour those we lost in March, deeply missed by many.

Donald Dal Bianco, Howard Siddon and Eric Fernandes are being remembered through donations made in their name, each one a reflection of love, connection, and the impact they continue to have on those around them.

As we step into a new fiscal year, we are also stepping into a new capital planning cycle across Brightshores Health System.

This year, that list represents more than $17 million in equipment and infrastructure needs across our hospitals.

It is a big number.
And it should be.

Because behind that number are the things a hospital simply cannot function without.

Not all of it is highly visible.
Some of it is behind the walls
Some of it supports the systems that keep everything running
Some of it replaces aging infrastructure that has been relied on for decades.
It may not always be “exciting.”
But it is essential.

Across Grey and Bruce, the five foundations that support Brightshores' work together each year to help fund these priorities.

Different communities. One shared system. One shared responsibility.

Some birthdays are worth celebrating in a truly meaningful way and Geordie showed us exactly what that looks like.

On March 21, Geordie marked her 75th birthday with an incredible personal challenge
75 lengths in the pool
75 minutes on the bike
7.5 km on the run

But this was never just about the challenge. It was about love, legacy, and purpose.

Geordie set out to grow the Earl Farrell Endowment Fund to $100,000 in honour of her late husband, Earl and she did it.

Her determination means this fund will continue to support patient comfort and care at our hospital not just today, but for years to come. That is the power of an endowment. It creates something lasting with impact for generations to come.

Geordie, thank you for turning your birthday into something so impactful. Your strength, generosity, and love for Earl have created a legacy that will touch countless lives in our community.

And to everyone who supported her along the way, thank you for being part of something truly special.
