“Deeper” doesn’t always mean “better” when it comes to massage treatment. While firm pressure can be helpful for some people and conditions, too much pressure sometimes cause the body to guard, tense up, or become more irritated instead of relaxing. Effective treatment is about working with the nervous system and tissues — not forcing through pain. In many cases, slower and more precise techniques with moderate pressure can create longer-lasting relief than aggressive deep tissue work. The best massage is one that your body can actually respond positively to, not one you have to endure.

Getting the most out of your massage treatment starts before you even get on the table. Staying hydrated, eating a light meal beforehand, and arriving a few minutes early can help your body relax and respond better to the treatment. Remember to communicate openly about pain, tension, stress, injuries, or areas you want addressed to allow your practitioner to tailor the treatment specifically to you. Massage is most effective when your nervous system feels safe and regulated — not rushed and tense — so giving yourself time to slow down beforehand can make a noticeable difference in how your body releases and recovers afterward.

Most people don’t realize how much movement is happening inside the body.

Your organs need to glide.
Your nervous system needs to regulate.
Even your skull has subtle motion.

When something loses that movement, the body compensates—and that’s often where pain shows up.

That’s why treating only the sore spot doesn’t always last.

If you’ve tried different treatments but something still feels off, this might be the missing piece.

Male factor infertility plays a role in up to 50% of fertility challenges, yet it’s often overlooked in treatment plans. Research is showing that acupuncture can be a supportive tool for improving key s***m parameters — including count, motility and morphology.

Studies have found:
✨ Improvements in s***m motility (how well s***m move), with significant increases after acupuncture treatment
✨ Increases in normal s***m morphology (shape), which is essential for fertilization
✨ Enhanced s***m concentration and overall semen quality in multiple clinical trials and reviews
✨ Better fertilization rates and embryo quality when acupuncture is used alongside assisted reproductive treatments

There’s also emerging evidence that acupuncture may support:
– Hormone regulation (including testosterone)
– Reduced inflammation
– Improved blood flow to the reproductive organs

Becoming a Fellow of the Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) represents advanced training in fertility, hormones, and women’s health.

A FABORM practitioner has completed extensive education, clinical experience, and rigorous examination in reproductive medicine—blending traditional Chinese medicine with a strong understanding of Western fertility care.

This means more targeted, evidence-informed support for conditions like PMS, PCOS, endometriosis, irregular cycles, IVF/IUI support, and hormone regulation. Care is always individualized, looking at the full picture—from cycle health and stress to digestion and sleep—to help bring the body back into balance and optimize reproductive health.

At Mint Therapeutics, every massage therapist approaches treatment a little differently.

Each practitioner brings their own style, techniques, and clinical focus to their work. That might mean a more therapeutic approach one day, slower relaxation-focused work the next, or incorporating things like cupping or TMJ treatment when it’s needed.

There’s no single “right” way to do massage—just different ways of supporting the body, depending on what you’re coming in with.

A year of studying, long days, a trip to LA, and one very challenging exam later… Carley passed her ABORM boards.

ABORM certification means advanced training in reproductive medicine—supporting fertility, hormones, and complex cases with a deeper level of understanding and care.
