Today, we had to euthanize our very first Rooster, Flare. He came to us in 2019 with Coconut, Blackavar and Domino. The 4 of them were our first chickens. Domino died last summer, and Blackavar disappeared into the ether (read: coyotes) sometime last year as well. Coconut made it 2 years. But Flare was the last of the OG 4. The vet figures he was having heart failure as his comb kept turning purple. So in 1 week we lost Speckles (my guy) and Flare (Ayla's). They say that there are usually deaths around a scorpio's b day.... Aylas b day was Nov 15. We lost Speckles just before, and Flare just after. We are heartbroken, especially Ayla. What a hwartbreaking week...

I love Caballo. He is many peoples' favourite horse here at Riverview Riding and respite - Equine Assisted Learning.

However, he needs a long break from the program. He is getting angry. I can see it in his eyes, see it in his body language. He is long overdue for his vacation/ time off.

Many people dont like to hear this, but having beginners/unbalanced riders/ multiple riders is very hard for the horses. They are so kind and patient and giving, but if we listen, they also tell us when they have had enough. I owe it to Caballo to give him a few months healing time.

We are going to go into "winter mode" shortly. I am increasing my hours at Saffron Centre .... and my wwoofers go back to Europe at the end of November. I will be committing 4 days a week to Saffron as its more stable income with more consistency.

We will be continuing for certain with the Saturday group sessions from 12 to 2. We will not be adding any new clients until the spring (March) to allow me to finish my registration as a Registered Provisional Psychologist and write my 3 exams - Ethics - EPPP- and oral exam. Stay tuned for more updates.... other changes are coming.

Thank you to everyone who enjoys coming out for their equine therapy sessions! You are such an integral part of our lives here!
