We are stoked to announce we have another incredible paediatric Physiotherapist joining the Grom Squad 🤩 !!

Maria Toner is a passionate and experienced paediatric physiotherapist who has been working with children since 2017. She completed her Physiotherapy degree at the University of Ulster in Ireland in 2012 and feels incredibly lucky to work in a career she truly loves.🍀

Maria prides herself on being able to seamlessly switch between “fun mode” for kids and “physio mode” for parents. She delivers care that is thoughtful, individualized, and centred around each family’s unique needs and goals—supporting both typically developing and neurodivergent children. 🤸‍♂️

She has completed additional training in concussion management, paediatric pelvic floor dysfunction, and bladder and bowel dysfunction, as well as CME (Cuevas Medek Exercises) Therapy. 🧠

Maria has experience working with children with a wide range of needs, including those with brain injuries, autism, ADHD, and Down’s syndrome. She is especially skilled in treating babies, with a special interest in supporting early gross motor milestones, as well as conditions like plagiocephaly and torticollis. 🧸

In 2023, Maria became a parent herself, an experience that has further deepened her empathy, insight, and connection with the families she works with. She loves helping kids build their gross motor skills in ways that are fun, functional, and accessible. 🤙🏼

Maria will be in our clinic on Friday afternoons starting this week! Her schedule is live for online bookings through our Jane! ⚡️

Primitive Reflexes have been a hot topic at Groms Physio + Co lately so last night our team of clinicians collaborated on some complex cases, treatment ideas and shared ideas on how we can help kids in the Sea to Sky Community ! 🏔️

We are all born with primitive reflexes and they help us stay alive as we develop through infancy! They should disappear between 1 to 2 years of age, allowing for more mature movement patterns to thrive and higher-level skills to develop. 🤸

Sometimes these reflexes don't integrate, and further development of the child is impacted causing challenges in social, emotional, educational, and psychological development. 😮‍💨

Our team can assess your child's primitive reflexes and determine if any of them are impacting your child's development! Our Grom Squad can work with your kids to help these reflexes integrate, enabling them to develop and thrive in their school, home and social environments! 🤙🏼

Want to learn more? Give us a call or shoot us an email to hear more about our services or book an appointment with one of our expert clinicians! ⭐️

We are stoked to welcome Daelyn to our Groms Squad! She is our new Client Support Coordinator, and she'll be helping support our families during the weekday afternoon and evenings! 🤙🏼

Daelyn is a fun, bubbly, and outgoing person who thrives on adventure and creativity. Born and raised in Squamish, she grew up in an athletic family of skiers, mountain bikers, and runners, so naturally, she took up those sports too. As the oldest of three kids, she was always leading the charge, whether on the trails, the slopes, or the soccer field, where she played competitively. She loves pushing her limits, staying active, and embracing new challenges—whether in sports, design, or life in general! ✨

these girls just wanna have fun 💃🏔️

if we could have dreamt up a team of gals to support kids in this community... that dream wouldn't have even come close to what makes up our Grom Squad today. Each of these women are forces who empower, challenge, create, dare, adapt, encourage, coach, advocate, lead, motivate and inspire! 🔥

These women create the team at Groms Physio + Co and as if these photos aren’t enough to tell, they’re one bad-ass group of babes!

We are THRILLED to let the community know that we have an awesome RMT joining the Grom Squad!!! Rachel will be in clinic Monday evenings starting in April!

Rachel has been practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist since 2015; treating folks mainly in North Vancouver, she is excited to start seeing patients closer to home. Rachel focuses largely on evidence based treatments, and her massages follow patient feedback first and foremost. She is looking forward to helping both children and adults reach their mobility and performance goals, as well as complementing already established treatment plans.

Prior to her career as an RMT, Rachel worked in Human Resources at an Independent School in Vancouver, and she competed in Equestrian sports through school and beyond.

We have an awesome Licensed School Psychologist and Registered Clinical Counsellor - Brittni Thompson - working out of Groms Physio + Co now !! 🤙🏼

Brittni is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and she also obtained her Master’s Degree in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of British Columbia (UBC). She has had the pleasure of working with a variety of families and their children in both educational and private practice settings. Her clinical work focuses on supporting children with learning challenges, anxiety, selective mutism, ADHD, and autism. In her teaching, she emphasizes playful, visual, hands-on, and concrete methods to learn emotion regulation strategies. She is committed to enhancing your child’s functioning and learning in both home and school environments by selecting strategies that work across different settings. To ensure your child’s success, she strongly believes everyone needs to be informed of the plan and encourage active caregiver participation. She works collaboratively with families and schools to choose treatment targets; common goals include increasing shared emotional language, increasing knowledge of strategies for repairing problems and regulating emotions, as well as increasing parents’ knowledge of their child’s behaviour and response patterns.

She will be in clinic on Tuesday afternoon and evening. For more information or to book a session, please contact Brittni Thompson directly by email at btchildtherapy@gmail.com.

*Please note, Brittni does not provide crisis services. If you are having a mental health emergency, please call 911 or visit your local emergency room.
