About Me:
I grew up in Ontario, and sport has been an integral part of my life from an early age. Health and fitness were strongly modelled to me by my father, a Cardiologist, and my grandparents, also doctors, fitness and dessert fiends. I excelled at ski racing, and running cross country, and track, and I went on to coach ski racing. My mother battled breast cancer as I was growing up, and I struggled with, and overcame an eating disorder in my teens. I believe that our wounds are our wisdom, and these two experiences helped shape health as my greatest value. At a young age, I learned that 🎙️ life is precious, tomorrow is promised to no one, and health is our greatest asset. I believe health is the platform from which everything else stems, and determines how we show up in life. I have a daughter and son (2 C sections), and enjoy skiing, mountain and road biking, hiking, and being part of this incredible community! 🌊 “If it’s not perfect, it doesn’t count.” → The biggest lie in fitness & nutrition.

This week I’m on vacation in Tofino — beach walks, surf sessions, dinners out every night… and not a gym in sight.

It’s the perfect reminder that “good enough” is good enough — and it still counts.

I tell my clients this all the time:
✅ Something isn’t nothing.
✅ Something isn’t benign.

There are seasons of life — vacations, summer with the kids, visitors, busy weeks — when you need to let go of perfection and simply do your best.

And doing your best might look like:
👉 a long walk on the beach
👉 5–10 minutes of squats, push-ups & lunges in your PJs
👉 embracing what’s available — surfing, biking, swimming — and letting that be enough

Here’s what I actually do on vacation to feel good, keep my energy up, and still enjoy myself — no gym required:

HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT! I’m so excited to share this with you that I’m rolling out a brand new project 🥳.

I’m looking for a handful of qualified people to work with me… but it’s not for everyone.

If you fit at least 5 of these 7 criteria, I want to talk to you:

1. You must be a woman 35+.

2. You must sometimes feel you put your workouts on the back burner.

3. You must have at least intermediate experience lifting weights, you’ve picked up dumbbells in the last decade, and you feel you’ve reached a plateau with your progress.

Why I Became a Fitness Coach: A Story of Transformation

There's a Japanese concept called Kintsugi—the art of mending broken pottery with gold. This ancient practice teaches us that we can transform adversity into something beautiful and resilient. It shows us that healing is possible, that we can embrace our imperfections, and emerge stronger. Like those golden seams in repaired pottery, our challenges can become the very things that make us unique and powerful.

I became a Fitness Coach because I intimately understand what it feels like to believe you're not good enough. Fitness became my vehicle for cultivating both inner and outer strength, alongside genuine self-compassion.

My journey began in adolescence at an all-girls private school, where excellence wasn't just encouraged—it was expected in everything from academics to athletics. As my body began changing with puberty, I struggled with my reflection. I had internalized a dangerous belief: if I could just match the idealized image of beauty (the skinny Cover Girl model whose picture I'd taped to my wall), I would finally be worthy.

This mindset led me down a destructive path. I fell into the trap of believing that starvation and endless cardio would somehow make me "better." The resulting eating disorder led to multiple hospitalizations during my teenage years. I know firsthand the grip of addiction and all-or-nothing thinking. The mental burden was crushing—constantly counting calories, obsessing over meal plans, weighing myself, and calculating how to burn off every morsel of food I consumed.

Climbing out of that dark place took years, but through strength training, I discovered a new path. I learned to fuel my body with love instead of deprivation and began rewiring my internal dialogue. Gradually, I found freedom. My perspective shifted dramatically—I started seeing my body not as something to fix, but as an ally, a vessel for strength, vitality, and joy. I knew with absolute certainty that my pain would serve a purpose; I would help others navigate the fire I had walked through.

This journey was further shaped by watching my mother's unwavering battle with cancer throughout my youth. Her fight illuminated how precious life truly is, and the vital importance of self-compassion. It was a stark awakening: while I had been slowly destroying myself, others facing terminal illnesses didn't have the luxury of choice about their health.

This realization led me to become a Certified Health Coach and Personal Trainer. I chose to become a lighthouse for women, illuminating a better path forward. My mission is to show them that strength is within reach, that empowerment is possible, and that they can honor and fuel their bodies in ways that make them feel radiant, vibrant, and truly alive.

Health forms the foundation from which everything else in life grows—it determines how we show up in every moment. My purpose is to help women build that foundation, to feel like badasses both in the gym and in their lives. To cultivate self-love. To embrace life boldly, unapologetically, and without reservation.

This isn't just what I do—it's who I am and why I'm here.

The Ultimate Motherload at Christmas 🎄

As I go for a walk with whitening strips pressed onto my teeth (because when else is there time?), I reflect on how this is the season of the ultimate motherload.

December hits, and suddenly, we’re carrying it all:
🎁 Buying all the gifts
🧹 Keeping the house pristine for guests while the kids leave messes everywhere, again and again.
🍽️ Hosting dinners, parties, and out-of-town family
🧺 Hours of extra cleaning—because the cleaning lady canceled
🏔️ Christmas concerts, and a million activities
🎄 Keeping the Christmas magic alive for everyone while running on fumes
🔥 Keeping up with your own self-care, so you stay sane and look polished

It’s a lot. I’ll never forget how, as a kid, my mom would sometimes cry on Christmas Day. Not because it wasn’t special, but because it was too much. The pressure to make it perfect—to be the orchestrator of everything. (And of course she had a terminal illness, and never knew when her last Christmas would be).

And now I get it 🤯

The truth is, the holidays can feel like a marathon where we’re sprinting to the finish line with everyone’s happiness on our backs. But here’s what I’ve learned:

✨ Pull the plug on the perfectionist, not the project. ✨

Your kids won’t remember spotless floors—they’ll remember you singing off-key Christmas carols with them. Your guests won’t care if the pies are homemade or from a bakery—they’ll care about feeling welcome in your home.

When the overwhelm starts to suffocate me, I come back to a few simple tools:
🧘‍♀️ Meditation—Insight Timer is a great free app, 10 minutes before bed
🔄 Reframing—asking, “Does this really matter?” and letting go of the rest
💬 Saying “no”—because you don’t have to do it all to be worthy
💪🏻 Exercise - motion changes emotion

This Christmas, I’m choosing to let go of perfect and embrace present. Because we deserve to enjoy the season, too.

3 ways to tell if you’re using the right weights 🏋️‍♀️

1. You have 1-2 reps in reserve (RIR). If you really had to do 1-2 more reps, you probably could, but they would be slow and sloppy.

2. Your rate of perceived exertion is an 8,9 or 10/10.

3. You are harnessing the Law of Progressive Overload. The law of progressive overload is a foundational principle in strength training and that states, for muscles to grow and adapt, you need to gradually increase the demand placed on them. This means challenging your body with slightly higher levels of stress than it’s used to. By doing this over time, you can build strength, endurance, and muscle mass.

Progressive overload can be applied in a few different ways, such as:

➡️ Increasing the weight lifted – adding more resistance over time.
➡️ Increasing the number of repetitions – lifting the same weight for more reps.
➡️ Increasing the number of sets – performing additional sets of an exercise.
➡️ Reducing rest time between sets – challenging muscle endurance.
➡️ Increasing training frequency or intensity – doing the exercise more often or with greater focus.
