Bio.
I had an autoimmune disorder which started at 8 years of age. I experienced juvenile arthritis along with severe eczema. The bones in my feet were so swollen and enflamed that I could not wear regular shoes in the winter months and had to resort to snow boots and sit out all sports. As time went on there were no significant improvements and the Doctors that my Mom took me to had no options other than cortisone cream for the eczema. Eventually my skin started thinning drastically so, at 18, I went off the cream. It was at this time that my Dad found an acupuncturist to help with his chronic back pain. It wasnât long until the family brought me in to John Asher for treatments.
The first session was pure euphoria. I had never felt that good in my life. My eye sight was sharper, the colours were brighter and my senses were enhanced. I felt as if I had been pulled out of a plastic bag. I couldnât believe the colours and the leaves on the trees, and the clouds and the colour of the sky. After 4 sessions within 8 days my condition dramatically resolved. The eczema was completely gone, and the pain and swelling in my feet disappeared. It has been 37 years and these symptoms have never returned. I still have disfigured bones in my feet from the 10 years I had this disorder, but no pain and no other issues.
For this reason I always wanted to be an acupuncturist and a Chinese Medicine Herbalist. (Actually, I saw an herbalist on the evening News out of Seattle in the 1970âs and was hooked!) John Asher, my original acupuncturist recommended the ICTM of Victoria. Wally Mui stuck to a very Chinese method of teaching which didnât differ much from the schools in China. We learned Mandarin in our first year and all the points and diagnosisâ were learned in Mandarin, unlike other schools in North America.
