Mountain Bike - Max Strength Maintenance 💪
You trained all winter to build real strength—don’t lose it just because you're starting to ride more.

🔻 Max strength starts fading after just 2–3 weeks off.
✅ The fix? Just 1 heavy lift per week can hold the line.🎯 Think: Deadlifts, Back Squats, Trap Bar (2–4 sets of 3–6 reps @ ~75%+)
📉 Less strength = less tech control, less force to the pedals, and more fatigue.

9 early signs of overtraining that often get missed because they seem small or are easy to brush off:
1. Elevated resting heart rate

Your morning heart rate is consistently 5–10+ bpm higher than usual.
Or your HR doesn't drop quickly after an easy effort.
2. Poor sleep

Harder time falling asleep or staying asleep even though you're tired.
3. Mood changes

Irritability, low patience, feeling "off" emotionally, low motivation.
4. Decreased performance at usual effort

Workouts feel harder at the same paces, weights, or power outputs.
Or, legs feel "heavy" all the time.
5. Loss of appetite

Weirdly not hungry after training, or general lack of interest in food.
6. Nagging aches and pains

Soreness that doesn't resolve with normal recovery.
Mild tendon or joint irritation popping up.
7. Higher perceived exertion

Easy rides/runs/strength work suddenly feel like much more of a grind.
8. Frequent colds or lingering sickness

Your immune system takes a hit; you get sick more easily or can't shake a bug.
9. Mental burnout

Dreading training sessions you usually look forward to.
⚡ Important:
You don't need all of these to be at risk.
One or two showing up consistently = time to back off or adjust.
