🚨NEW STAFF - ABBY CARPENTER - KINESIOLOGIST🚨
Abby grew up in Torbay, NL, where she developed a strong passion for sport from a young age. She was heavily involved in athletics, with basketball becoming her primary focus. Abby competed with school, club, and provincial teams, and proudly represented Team NL at the 2022 Canada Games. Although she also played hockey growing up, she ultimately chose to pursue basketball at a higher level.
Abby was recruited to play for the Dalhousie University women’s varsity basketball team, where she competed for 3 years while earning Academic All-Canadian honours. Her experience as a student-athlete, combined with her lifelong involvement in sport, sparked her interest in health and performance.
While completing her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University (2022–2026), Abby experienced a significant setback when she tore her ACL in her first year. Going through the rehabilitation process firsthand ignited her passion for injury rehab and return-to-sport programming. This experience allows her to truly understand the physical and mental challenges athletes face throughout recovery.
Abby has also been deeply involved in coaching, starting with the NLBA and continuing with the Dalhousie Basketball Academy. She now coaches with Special Olympics, working with both the Halifax Warriors basketball team and youth fundamentals programs. She loves giving back to the community, inspiring others, and creating a positive and motivating environment for all.
Outside of school, Abby enjoys staying active through strength training, yoga, basketball and spending time with friends. She is excited to begin her career as a kinesiologist, applying her knowledge and experiences to help others improve performance, recover from injury, and reach their full potential.
Abby will be starting this month and primarily working out of our Paradise location!
