Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) Health Services is advising patients and clients with outpatient health appointments in St. John’s to review their appointment letters to confirm the location of their upcoming visits. Appointments that are scheduled on or after October 21, 2025, may take place at the new ambulatory health hub located at 28 Stavanger Drive (the former Costco building) rather than at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital or the Health Sciences Centre.

ATTENTION PATIENTS OF DR. AMANDA COLEMAN!

Dear patients of Dr. Amanda Coleman,

It is with deepest regret that I write to inform you that I will be closing my community-based practice as of November 14, 2025. After 16 years of caring for you and your families, I have come to the difficult decision that I need to scale back my growing work demands.

It has been such a pleasure getting to know each of you over these past two decades. It has truly been my privilege and honor to be your family physician. I wish you all the best going forward and will miss you all.

I have made every effort to find another physician to take over part of my practice so you could have uninterrupted care. Unfortunately, I have not yet been successful in finding a replacement. The extreme shortage of family physicians has made this process very challenging.

In the meantime, I encourage you to begin looking for a new family physician. I will continue to provide care to my last day of practice on November 14, 2025. If I cannot find a doctor to care for you and/or your family, some available resources have been attached. You can register and add your name for opening practices at patientconnect.nlchi.nl.ca or call 1-833-913-4679.

Your records are mainly in electronic form. If you find another physician we can transfer your information to them for a small administrative fee. After November 14, 2025 your records will be transferred to NLHS and information on when/how to retrieve it from them will be provided at a later date.

Please note the other family physicians at my clinic are not accepting new patients.

A great step forward in cancer prevention and screening in Newfoundland and Labrador!

Adults 40-74 years of age can now self-refer for breast screening, and adults 50-74 years of age can self-refer for colon screening through the MyHealthNL app.

Once a self-referral is made, you will either receive an appointment letter in the mail, or a follow up call with your appointment time. It could not be easier!

In this session, we will share supportive and effective strategies that you can apply to help you manage these emotions going forward.

Individuals can access breast screening through their primary health-care provider or through self-referral by calling a screening navigator toll-free at 1-800-414-3443.
