Coffee? Check.
Hot chocolate? Check.
Essential care workers getting safely to work? Absolutely.

In health and community care, our employees don’t get snow days, and neither does our commitment to them. Throughout the storm, our teams connected and supported one another in different ways, including helping ensure some of our front-line team members had a safe drive to and from work, so our clients could continue receiving the care they rely on.

A big shoutout to our scheduling team, too — the steady hands behind the scenes who keep everything running, no matter the conditions.

We’re proud of the way our people look out for each other and grateful to all essential workers across our province who show up every day for the people who need them most. 💙

Last Thursday, we came together to celebrate our team members across the metro region who reached meaningful milestones in 2025, recognizing years of dedicated service and our Core Value Award recipients.

It was a special afternoon dedicated to the people who shape our culture and strengthen our organization every day. To our Core Value Award recipients, thank you for consistently living our values and leading by example. To those celebrating service milestones, your dedication and experience continue to make a lasting impact.

We are proud to recognize your achievements and grateful for the commitment you bring to Brightisle.

February has been a meaningful month at Brightisle as we’ve taken part in Black History Month events across our community.

Earlier this month, our REDI Manager, Oliva Newland-Johnson, attended the Black History Month Reception, joining leaders and advocates in recognizing the impact and contributions of Black communities in Newfoundland and Labrador.

We also hosted a Black History Month movie day for employees, featuring Cool Runnings, creating space to connect and reflect together.

Most recently, Oliva participated in the Black History Month flag raising at City Hall, an event that honoured the legacy, resilience, and ongoing contributions of Black communities in our province. She also spoke at the ceremony, helping mark an important moment of recognition in our city.

These moments create space for learning, reflection, and continued commitment within our workplace and in the communities we serve.

Celebrating Years of Service in Placentia and the people who give their time, care, and hearts to Brightisle every day.

To everyone recognized, thank you for the work you do and the difference you make in the lives of others. We are especially grateful to Eleanor for 30 years with Brightisle. Her dedication has touched so many, and we were honored to gift her a handmade quilt in Brightisle colors.

We also celebrated our Core Values Award winner, whose actions reflect what Brightisle is all about.

February marks Black History Month. A time to reflect, honour, and recognize Black history, culture, and contributions.

Congratulations to Samson Ileaboya, one of our Find a Better Way Core Values Award recipients this quarter 👏

We received so many strong nominations that we couldn’t choose just one, so this quarter we’re recognizing two individuals who truly live this core value.

Samson consistently approaches challenges with a calm, solution-focused mindset and is always willing to go the extra mile to support the youths in the home and his shift partners. His steady presence, teamwork, and commitment to finding better ways to support individual needs make a real difference every day.

Samson has chosen to donate his $100 Core Values Award to The Mount Zion Redeemed Christian Church of God, supporting his local parish.

Thank you, Samson, for the impact you make and for living our core values.
