June is Pride Month. ๐ŸŒˆ

At Brightisle, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued for who they are.

This month, we celebrate the diversity, strength, and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and communities. We recognize the importance of creating spaces where people can show up as their authentic selves, feel a sense of belonging, and know they are supported.

Together, let's continue building communities rooted in inclusion, respect, and acceptance, this month and every month. ๐Ÿ’š

The hardest part of World Diversity Day? Deciding what to try first.

From Newfoundland favourites to dishes from India, Slovakia, Jamaica, Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and beyond, there was no shortage of incredible food to enjoy at this year's celebration.

The event was filled with great music, lots of conversation, and the chance to learn a little more about the cultures, traditions, and experiences that make up our Brightisle community.

A big thank you to everyone who helped bring the event together behind the scenes and to everyone who came out and made it such a memorable day.

Looking back, it's clear that some of the best moments came from people gathering around a table, sharing stories, and connecting with one another. Food has a way of bringing people together, and World Diversity Day was a great reminder of that. ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒŽ

This month, we are recognizing two people who truly embody what it means to Make It Happen.

Jamie Stewart is the person everyone can count on. Whether he's fixing a maintenance issue, responding to an urgent need, or taking time to connect with youth and staff, Jamie shows up with positivity, reliability, and a genuine commitment to helping others. He doesn't just keep things running, he helps make our spaces feel safe, welcoming, and cared for.

Ama Osei brings dedication, compassion, and a positive attitude to every shift. Her strong work ethic, kindness, and willingness to support those around her make a meaningful difference for both her colleagues and the youth in her care. She consistently leads by example and helps create a supportive environment wherever she goes.

As part of their recognition, Jamie has chosen to donate his $100 Core Values Award to Daffodil Place, providing a home away from home for individuals and families travelling to St. John's for cancer care.

Ama has chosen to donate her $100 Core Values Award to the Janeway Foundation, supporting healthcare, programs, and services that help children and families throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Thank you, Jamie and Ama, for the care, dedication, and heart you bring to Brightisle every day. ๐Ÿ’š

At this yearโ€™s Brightisle Leadership Summit, we came together to focus on our core value of Find a Better Way.

Over two days, our leaders stepped away from the day-to-day to share ideas, challenge thinking, and reflect on how we continue to grow, both individually and as an organization. These moments matter. They create space to align, to learn from one another, and to strengthen how we lead and support our teams.

From leadership sessions and workshops to honest conversations and a few lighter moments in between, the Summit was a reminder that growth does not happen in isolation. It happens when we come together with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to keep improving.

Thank you to The Wilds for hosting us, and to everyone who brought their energy, insight, and commitment into the room.

Brightisle was proud to attend the International EDI-AR Conference 2026 at Memorial University.

The conference brought together leaders, researchers, and community partners to share perspectives on equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism, and to explore how this work continues to evolve across different sectors.

It was a valuable opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect on how we continue to strengthen inclusive practices across our organization and the communities we support.

This week is CMHA Mental Health Week. The theme is Come Together, Canada, and it hits close to home for us.

In this work, connection is everything. The relationships we build, the trust we earn, and the way we show up day after day all play a role in supporting mental health.

We see it in our work with clients, in the quiet moments, and in the consistency it takes to support people through real-life challenges.

Check in with your team this week. Not just when something feels off, but in the everyday moments.

Because connection is part of how we care.

May 5th is Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+). The red dress is a reminder of the thousands of Indigenous daughters, sisters, mothers, aunties, grandmothers, and two-spirit family members and friends who have been taken by violence.

Today, and every day, we honour the lives of MMIWG2S+ and raise awareness of this national crisis. We stand in solidarity with the families and communities who continue to carry the grief of losing loved ones.

Red Dress Day is also a call to action. It reminds us of the urgent need for justice, safety, and systemic change.

Brightisle was proud to be a sponsor of Bowl for Kidsโ€™ Sake 2026 in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

This event is all about community coming together to help local children and youth access the mentorship, encouragement, and opportunities they need to thrive.

We are grateful to support initiatives that create lasting impact close to home, and it was wonderful to see so many people show up for such an important cause.

Thank you to everyone involved for making the day such a success. ๐ŸŽณ๐Ÿ’š
