Perimenopause is a transformative time, yet it’s often misunderstood and under-discussed. The rapid physical and emotional changes can feel overwhelming, and many women lack the guidance they need to navigate this phase with confidence.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, I’ve seen how this period is often over-medicalized, leaving women with more questions than answers. I have teamed up with Jessie Maher, the owner of Mama Jessie’s Play School & Parenting Support, to collaborate on a workshop that offers a balanced, holistic approach to perimenopause.

We understand that embarking on a journey with a Naturopathic Doctor can feel intimidating—whether due to misconceptions about strict dietary rules, the pressure of supplement regimens, or concerns about costs in an uncertain financial climate.

Our goal is to create a safe space for those who may not have access to Naturopathic care, or who are hesitant about traditional approaches. Together, we aim to make this essential conversation accessible, supportive, and empowering for everyone.

-----

Session 1: Understanding Perimenopause
In the first session, we’ll dive deep into perimenopause: what it is, the hormones involved, and how it affects the body. We’ll explore common symptoms and the physiological changes that come with this phase, providing a solid understanding of what’s happening in the body during this transition.

Session 2: Taking Action with Nutrition and Lifestyle
In the second session, we’ll focus on practical strategies for navigating perimenopause with confidence. We’ll cover evidence-based nutritional and lifestyle approaches that are shown to support individuals through this transition, helping to manage symptoms and promote overall well-being.

All participants will be given quite a beautiful handout package that is going to support them in making meaningful changes as they move forward with this transition in their lives :)

-----

This workshop is for anyone navigating perimenopause who feels overwhelmed or confused, with a focus on providing support for all individuals experiencing this transition.

-----

Details:

When: Thursday, November 21st & 28th at 7:30 PM NST
Where: Online (replays will be emailed)
Cost:
Suggested investment: $40 for both sessions
Discounted rate: $20 if needed
Pay-it-forward: $60 if you’re able to support someone else attending
Our sliding scale helps make the workshop accessible, especially during this busy season. If cost remains a barrier, please reach out.

Hey everyone! 👩🏼‍⚕️👋🏻

🗓️ Where has the time gone? It’s hard to believe there are only about 7 weeks left in the year—meaning we have about 5-6 weeks left for patient visits.

👀 If you’re like me (and many folks I’ve been hearing from), you might have just realized you have unused naturopathic insurance benefits left to spend! Now’s a great time to put them to use, and it’s actually an ideal moment to start your wellness journey. By starting now, we can make the most of your coverage before year-end, and seamlessly continue in the new year.

💸 For those who feel constrained by insurance coverage: we can always discuss a sliding scale once it’s used up. This applies to anyone without insurance too, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help!

📖 Appointments fill up fast this time of year, so if you’ve been considering naturopathic care, I’d recommend booking soon. Currently, my next available appointments start in December.

✨If that seems far off, remember that the waitlist feature can be a real help—especially during cold and flu season. It’s totally automated and can move pretty quickly, so you might get in sooner than expected!

🤷🏼‍♀️If you’re on the fence or just want to learn more, I offer complimentary discovery calls to make sure we’re the right fit to work together. Feel free to send an email to set one up—I’d love to chat!

Thanks so much for being here, and for all the amazing referrals. You all make a world of difference! I can’t wait to support you on your health journey. ✨🌱

This summer has been sweet, sleepy, silly, and feral all wrapped into one.

Doing my best to balance being human and healing humans.

My practice has never been busier. Some of you trying to book appointments have seen that! I hope the wait speaks to the quality of care I provide.

With that increased patient load, has been an increased thirst for knowledge to help you all a little bit better. Which has meant a lot of time devoted to lectures and research updates and and and….

And I love it. More than anything.
It lights me up to show you the inner workings of our body and how they delicately fit into the natural world around us. If you’ve seen me get doodling in a visit…. you know.

But everything comes with a price.

And so, I’ve been indulging in extra time off, and hope to still get a little bit more while the sun is shining. We don’t get a lot of that on this sweet lil island, and as a sufferer of the ol’ seasonal affective, I know I am better off when I soak up the sun while it’s here.

Because trust me - that’s the best way for me to care for you.

I’ve been silent on socials because, quite frankly, it doesn’t fill me up. I will some day return to sharing all the fun stuff with the masses, but for now, I’m sharing me with me and my loved ones. The more screen time I have, the more disconnected I feel.

Ironic that I’m sharing this on a screen 😅

Anyways - the point of this is - I’m still here. I still love all of you.
I’ll still be slow to respond to emails and DM’s over the next few weeks. Posts will continue to be sparse.

Im refuelling. Soul, spirit, and mind. I’m resting and re-integrating.

I encourage you to invite something similar.

Here is a collection of precious moments that have inspired my summer. I hope you have found the same joy somewhere along the way.

I’ll be back in girl boss mode soon, I promise. But for now, it’s girl moss time.

We’ve just celebrated Naturopathic Medicine week, followed by International Day of IBD Awareness, right in the middle of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Was this intersection of awareness days/weeks/months made for me or what?! 😂

Jokes aside - this intersection really does give me a moment to pause.

My health - both physical and mental - have had contentious periods over the years.

I struggled with some pretty intense (misdiagnosed) anxiety and depression growing up, which I’m sure was one of the defining factors in my ultimate development of Crohn’s disease. I say this because the link between intense severe stress levels and autoimmune disease is pretty clear.

And I remember the words “You will always be this sick”. I hear them ringing in my dreams, still, almost 15 years later.

But I also remember the day I figured out that it was all connected.
I also remember the woman, my first ever ND, who told me that the above statement was false and I could feel better
I remember an accidental run in with the Naturopathic college a year later when my mental health was in a very deep rut.
And I remember feeling hope again for the first time in almost a year.

It’s been a tough, and at times, scary road.

But I truthfully wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s an honour and a privilege to be here today to share my story. Because there have been many times when I didn’t think that would be possible.

And not only share my story, but use it as fuel to my fire to give people the health care they are seeking.

Anyways, I’ll end this with a little joke I’ve been telling for years -

“IBD - incredibly badass disease. Because most times we’re badass. But sometimes our asses are bad” 😹😹😹
💩💩💩

Thanks for being here for the ride, friends. I’m so happy that we’re all here ❤️☀️

🌱 👩🏼‍⚕️ Join me in celebrating this year’s Naturopathic Medicine Week! 👩🏼‍⚕️ 🌱

I’m so grateful to be a part of this practice. Since Naturopathy has come into my life, it’s changed so much for the better. Better health, better mindset, better lifestyle…

As some of you may know, I’ve struggled with my health a fair bit over the years, both physical and mental. And what I thought was a last chance hail mary to improve my digestion turned into the most life changing medical appointment of my life.

It brings me an immense amount of pride to be able to work alongside so many of you, and it is an honour that I do not take for granted.

Thank you all for being here, thank you for your referrals, thank you for the shares, thank you for showing up as your most beautiful, raw, and authentic selves.

There is a place for everyone in my office, and in such a short time, almost 1000 (!!!!!) of you have accepted the invitation. I can’t wait to meet even more of you in the time to come! Together, as doctor and patient, I believe we can revolutionize health care, and set a standard for better. Thank you for joining me on this journey.

In honor of Nat Med week, I’d love to know how Naturopathy changed your life, whether it be with me, or another ND, please feel free to leave it in a comment below, or send to me in a DM. I’d love to read some of the responses, and share them (anonymously, of course) with our community.

And if you want in on the fun? You know the drill. Book your discovery call using the link in my bio 🔗

Let’s bust some common myths about Naturopathic Doctors. 🧐

It’s a wonderful, but pretty polarizing practice, and like a lot of things in the wellness world, there is a lot of misinformation out there. Which I’ve been hearing a whole lot about a lot lately.

First, let’s crack into my favourite.
ND’s are ✨🦆 quacks🦆✨ who don’t really know anything about the human body. 🙃

False! ND’s are trained very similar to your GP. Though we don’t go through the same conventional programming, in order to receive our ND, we have to go through the assessment and diagnostic training, as well as equivalency biomedical & clinical exams. The major difference is how we are trained in terms of treatment. We get the nutrition training your GP didn’t ;)

Which leads me to number two...
ND’s are anti-pharmaceutical.

False again! There are definitely cases where we agree, even as ND’s, that medication is the best choice. Hell, I’ll even write a referral letter if you’re having a hard time accessing the medication you need.

And to add to this - we are also trained to understand pharmacological interactions, so you can be assured that your meds and supplements are safe together.

Which brings us to number three...
ND’s are just supplement pushers.

Also false! Just like your MD isn’t a pill pusher. We have your best interests at heart with our best training in mind. In fact, supplements, while often used, are not my first line. I’d rather adjust your lifestyle and nutrition first, then add supplements to fill the gaps.

These are just a few examples of some things I’ve seen floating around our mainstream media that I felt important to discuss.

Maybe you’ve had some questions about Naturopathic Medicine you want answered - leave your questions in the comments below. I’d be happy to answer them!

And if you’re curious about how Naturopathic Medicine can benefit you, I still have some openings before my reduced patient hours in the summer. Hop over to the link in my bio to book!
