Pharmacy Association Hands Out Annual Awards

The Pharmacy Association of Newfoundland and Labrador has recognized pharmacists and pharmacies across the province with their annual PANL awards handed out over the weekend.

Community Pharmacist of the Year went to Christopher Rendell of The Medicine Shoppe in Corner Brook, while Lorie Carter, who works at the Health Sciences, was named Hospital Pharmacist of the Year.

The Pharmacy Team Award went to Brookfield PharmaChoice in St. John’s: Brittany Lockyer, Patrick Ryan, Bryan Snow, Aaron Atkinson, Tracey Warren, Carolyn Smith and Britney Lawrence.

Meritorious Service Award:
Shoppers Drug Mart, CBS

Pharmacists: Keith Bailey, Jillian Croke, Emily Nolan, and Jessica Jenkins

MUN Students: Allie Moss, Sarah Woodford, Kim Deer, Jenna Bradley, and Rachel Boyce

MUN Cultural Fashion Show

Faisal Abdalla, a School of Pharmacy graduate student, participated in the MUN Cultural Fashion Show, which took place on Friday, September 19, from 1-2pm at The Landing in the University Centre (UC).

He had this to say about his experience: "I had the honour of participating as a graduate student from the School of Pharmacy. It was such an incredible experience being part of an event that celebrates so many diverse traditions and styles from around the world."

Can 200 People Keep a Secret?

The School of Pharmacy’s very own Heather Bugler—who’s been working at the School for its entire 35 years, plus four more years in other departments—is set to retire this fall. At this year’s Scholarships & Awards Night on September 24, Dr. Shawn Bugden secretly prepped everyone in attendance in the main auditorium that he would be presenting his favourite decanal assistant with the Memorial sweatshirt she always wanted at the reception that evening.
