What Is Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is considered the 3rd wave of Cognitive & Behavioural Therapy. ACT is an evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) that uses acceptance and mindfulness techniques alongside behaviour change strategies to help you live in line with what really matters to you.
While the ‘T’ in ACT stands for therapy, ACT goes beyond that: it provides a framework for a deeper understanding of what it is to be human and, more specifically, how to live your life with purpose, openness, vitality, and fun.
In this workshop series, we will be discussing the six core ACT concepts and how they work together to assist with building psychological flexibility. ACT is a counselling approach that has been building support for almost 40 years, but it is more than that, it can be a way of living.
This Workshop Series Is Based On The ACT and Self-Compassion Work Of:
Dr. Russ Harris- The Author of the Happiness Trap
Dr. Steven Hayes PhD- The founding creator of ACT
Dr. Kristin Neff PhD - Her groundbreaking research on Self-compassion
