Sculptra vs. Radiesse — which is right for you?
Biostimulators are some of our favourite tools for long-term, natural rejuvenation—but they work differently than traditional fillers.
✨ Sculptra
My go-to for stimulating collagen, elastin, and DWAT (dermal white adipose tissue) cells—helping to restore skin quality and structure gradually over time.
✨ Radiesse
A versatile option. It offers some immediate structure and contour (think cheek and jawline), while also stimulating collagen. When used in a hyperdilute form, it’s a great option for areas like the neck.

✨ 4 Months After Abdominoplasty ✨
A beautiful transformation at just four months post-op. This patient is thrilled with her results, and we love seeing the difference from both the front (AP) view and the lateral view, showing a smoother contour and a more streamlined abdominal profile.

Born and raised in British Columbia, Dr. Seal moved to Vancouver after high school to study at the University of British Columbia where he completed his undergraduate degree and attended Medical School. He was honoured to be chosen as Valedictorian of his medical school graduating class. From Vancouver he moved to St. John’s where he started his Orthopedic Surgery residency.
In St. John’s Dr. Seal discovered his passion for plastic surgery while on rotation with the Plastic Surgery team at the Health Sciences Centre. He then transferred into the Plastic Surgery Training Program at McMaster University in Hamilton.
It was in Hamilton, where he completed his training and was awarded the best clinical research paper during his Chief Residency year. He published several articles while a resident at Hamilton.
Moving again to Vancouver for additional fellowship training, Dr. Seal enrolled in two fellowships: Breast Reconstruction and Craniofacial Surgery. His time in Vancouver also led to further research projects and journal publications.
He moved back to St. John’s in 2010 and has been in active practice ever since. He enjoys the diversity of his work, both at the hospital and within his private practice and cares for patients at the Health Sciences Centre, St. Clare’s Hospital and the Janeway. He was the President of the Medical Staff association in 2015-2016, and has been Chair of the Breast Disease Site Group since 2012.
A devoted husband and father, Dr. Seal is kept quite busy during downtime and can usually be found cheering on his four children at hockey, soccer and dance events.
Dr. Seal is passionate about keeping up-to-date in all developments within the field of plastic surgery. As CEO and Chief Surgeon of Dr. Shane Seal Plastic Surgery Institute, the newest and most modern facility of its kind in the province, he brings the utmost in quality, safety, and privacy to his patients.
