This is what person centered care looks like. A resident believed they had called and ordered a pizza and they chatted all afternoon about needing someone to pick it up. The Dietary team caught wind of this and, unprompted, made the resident pizza for supper. Was it on the menu? No. Was it an amazing thing to do for our resident - 100%. THANK YOU DIETARY TEAM for making this resident's day. You are the best!!!

Congratulations Kayla! Many of our followers will recognize Kayla as she was also a nurse in our home while working on her Master’s. A hard working professional on many fronts. This is a well deserved accomplishment for her!

GREAT NEWS! UNB Faculty of Nursing & Health Sciences Master of Nursing student Kayla MacLeod has successfully defended their thesis titled “Exploring the Relationship Between Physician Accessibility on Nurses’ Job Satisfaction and Retention in New Brunswick Nursing Homes: A Cross-Sectional Study”. It's an incredible achievement and a significant milestone for Kayla.

Did you know that one of our fantastic nurse leaders, Emily Kelly, guides a group of first year Nursing Students from UNB through a rotation at Nashwaak Villa every year? They learn about providing care in a nursing home setting and are hands-on with our residents - who love them!

This year's group of students was high-energy and fun. They say their favorite part of this rotation was playing Scrabble with the residents. Last week was their final week with us and we miss them already!!

100 Women ~ making a difference

Did you know that since 2014 the Stanley area 100 Women ~ making a difference has raised $113,061.00? Did you know that 10 different local groups have benefited … including $14,873.17 for the Nashwaak Villa Helping Hands. Every dollar donated is given back to the community. Does this sound like an initiative that you would like to be part of?

We welcome new members. If you are considering joining come to the June gathering to meet current members and find out more about the groups we are supporting.

Join us on Wednesday 10 June at 7pm at Jean's Canteen on the Stanley Fair Grounds. Members have pledged to contribute $100.00 each. At this gathering donations will be collected and a vote will be taken to choose the 5 recipients of the 2026 total received.

Nashwaak Villa is hiring SEED Students for Summer 2026! We’re excited to welcome motivated students to join our team this summer in both our Activities Department and our Nursing Home Without Walls (NHWW) program.

Positions Available:
- Nursing Home Activities Leader: Support and engage with residents through daily activities at Nashwaak Villa.
- Community Support Activities Leader – NHWW Program: Assist with planning and delivering activities for seniors living in the community.
- Community Yard Care Assistant – NHWW Program: Help community seniors with outdoor yard care tasks through our NHWW initiative.

To qualify, students must:
- Be a resident of New Brunswick (lived in NB for at least 6 months) or a resident of a First Nation community in NB
- Be eligible to work in Canada (valid SIN required)
- NOT be an immediate family member of the employer (spouse, child, parent, sibling)
- Be a high school student entering Grade 10, 11, or 12 in September 2026 OR
- Be a full time Grade 12, university, or college student in the 2025–2026 academic year and attending post secondary full time in Fall 2026

Placements are 12 weeks, 35 hours per week.
