Some of you need to make time for wellness before you make time for illness. Some of you have been toiling to care for others. Many of us, ignore ourselves, or outright neglect our own well-being. Loving others well - means loving ourselves well too. Perhaps you have been putting off your own medical appointment, delaying getting support of your own, pushing on and hiding behind a smile or a simple “good day” when meeting passersby. You truly help others when you also help yourself. As a wife, a mom of 5, an employee, a business owner , a friend, a daughter, a housekeeper, a dog owner and a therapist as well as all the other hats a woman wears, I know full well how easy is to do your best to keep calm and carry on and put yourself at the bottom of the list. Imagine the care you give when you feel well, compared to the care you give when you are tired, depleted, running on empty. Our capacity to tolerate adversity weakens. Therapy helps to increase self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-control. All vital elements of living an abundant life.
Tonight I am spending some immersive time in nature, soaking in the solitude and permitting myself the care I need - because integrity is to practice what I teach…… First, acknowledging the human experience, and then, when the time is right, coming back to center, again.
