The Stettler Municipal Hospital from the east side.
The Municipal Hospital was really a big step in healthcare for the district. Prior to the Municipal Hospital being incorporated, there had been a series of private hospitals, and even a state-of-the-art 'town hospital,' but the Municipal organization would bring together municipal districts and communities to improve patient care for the area.
The hospital itself was a model operation. In addition to the original loan being paid off in half the allotted time, the facility would also win recognition across North America for a high standard of patient care and staff efficiency, as well as having thoroughly modern equipment. Over the course of its operation, it would employ doctors from as close as Saskatchewan, to as far away as Ireland, and even Germany.
It remained the centre of patient care in the area for decades. Even when the Stettler Medical Clinic was built just a few blocks east of the facility, the location was picked to help streamline services between the two facilities. The addition of the A.E. Kennedy Auxiliary Hospital around 1954 helped ensure the growing municipal district was able to serve as much of the population as best as possible.
