1 in 3 mothers experience birth trauma—but so many stay silent, wondering if what they went through “counts.”

It's common to downplay your own experience… to think it “wasn’t that bad,” to push it aside, or to tell yourself to just move on. But birth trauma is real, and it’s more common than you might think.

-Trauma is anything that happens too much, too fast, too soon, or not enough for your nervous system to handle.-

Let that sink in.

Birth trauma can happen during pregnancy, birth, or the postpartum period—and it doesn’t always look like what people imagine. It might be physical pain, emotional distress, unexpected complications, or even feeling unheard or dismissed during your care.

It can affect birthing parents and non-birthing parents alike — and like any trauma, it can show up through emotions 😢, thoughts 💭, physical symptoms 🫀, or behaviors that don’t seem like “you.”

You’re not alone. Your experience matters. And healing is possible. 💗

Oh the beautiful instinctual maternal pull to love, care and nurture❤️

We've had two beautiful examples of this these past weeks on our little hobby farm.

Our two barn cats, who gave birth within a week of eachother, helping to clean of eachothers kittens during birth, grooming one another, and nursing all their kittens together. 😺🐱

Our chicken who went broody on some duck eggs being the best ducky mama ever❤️🦆🐔

It doesn't matter that it isn't their own kittens or a different species from them.

They're mothers❤️

The area I reside in has zero access to midwifery services . Midwifery care is not even a possibility.

The areas that do have access to midwifery care, have such a huge demand and such few midwives that SO MANY families desperately wanting midwifery care are unable get it.

We need more midwives and expanded care🙏

Doing what is right for you and your family is always best ❤️

Breast isn’t best.
“Fed” isn’t best either.

You know what is best?

An informed, supported, unapologetic mother doing what’s right for her baby AND her mental health.

Because the truth is…

Some moms breastfeed and love it.
Some moms breastfeed and hate it.
Some moms pump around the clock and cry through every session.
Some moms choose formula from day one.
Some don’t even get a choice at all.

And guess what?
They’re all still good moms.

Stop trying to win the feeding war.
Start fighting for better education, support, and respect, no matter what’s in the bottle.

It’s not about “what’s best.”
It’s about what’s right for you.
