Meet our osteopath and athletic therapist, Val!🧘🏻‍♀️

Osteopathy is a holistic, client-centered form of manual therapy that studies how the body functions in both health and disease. Using precise palpatory and hands-on techniques, Valerie will assess and treat areas of restriction in the body’s tissues to restore mobility and support the natural self-healing process. By improving the function and interaction of key systems—such as the musculoskeletal, circulatory, nervous and digestive systems—osteopathic treatments can help reduce pain, enhance mobility, and promote overall well-being. Each treatment plan is personalized, with intervals between sessions allowing the body time to integrate changes and heal effectively.

When most people think “pelvic floor exercises,” they picture kegels…
🚨Kegels are NOT enough!

❤️Make sure your pelvic floor exercises includes these 4 moves:

1️⃣ Thoracic Rotations
Rotating your upper body increases mobility in your spine and rib cage—which directly affects how pressure is managed in your core.
➡️ A stiff ribcage creates downward pressure into the pelvic floor.
➡️ More mobility = better pressure distribution = less risk of prolapse or leaking.
It also improves breathing mechanics, helping you exhale on exertion more effectively.

2️⃣ Side Flexions
When we side bend with control, we stretch and strengthen the obliques and intercostal muscles (the muscles between your ribs).
➡️ This restores symmetry between the left and right sides of your core.
➡️ Better balance = better pelvic alignment = improved pelvic floor coordination.
Many people don’t realize how much pelvic tension comes from imbalances higher up in the trunk!

3️⃣ Glute + Hip Mobility Work
Your glutes and pelvic floor are teammates.
➡️ Weak, tight, or misfiring glutes force the pelvic floor to take on too much work (especially during walking, running, lifting, or simply standing!).
➡️ Improving hip mobility + glute function reduces tension and overuse of the pelvic floor, which is crucial for both hypertonic and hypotonic patterns.

4️⃣ Functional Movements (like squats)
These mimic real-life demands—lifting kids, standing up, carrying groceries—and train your pelvic floor to respond to load.
➡️ When paired with proper breath and alignment (exhale on exertion!), these moves activate deep core muscles and the pelvic floor in a natural, reflexive way.
This is how you build true core stability for daily life.

Share with a friend who still thinks kegels are enough. 😉

Sitting all day? These quick exercises are designed to reverse the effects of prolonged sitting—stretching tight areas, activating key muscles, and relieving tension. A few minutes can make a big difference in how you feel and move.
