Is your child sensitive to motion?
Or perhaps they are always moving and can't seem to be still π€·πΌββ
Letβs explore a sensory system not well known to most mamas.... the vestibular system and how it might be affecting your little one. π
Hereβs what to look for:
β¨ Motion Sensitivity: Kids with vestibular system sensitivity might be fearful of swings, slides, car seats, or strollers.
Alternatively, those that are under-registering the input from the vestibular system might love spinning, fast rides, or being tossed in the air.
β¨ Sleep Challenges: The vestibular system is often at play for kiddos who have difficulty unwinding and settling down to sleep because it plays a big part in overall arousal regulation.
β¨ Birth Factors: Babies born breech donβt get the same vestibular input in utero, and those born via C-section miss out on tactile and proprioceptive input from the birth canal. Premature babies also have less time to develop their sensory systems in utero.
Understanding these factors can help you better support your child's sensory needs and overall well-being.
Remember, youβre doing an amazing job, mama, and being aware of these nuances can make a big difference.
