Meet Julie đź’ś

Julie is one of our Registered Psychologist and trauma-informed therapist who’s been supporting clients since 2016. She brings a warm, grounded, person-centred approach to therapy, with a special focus on helping women heal past wounds, build healthier boundaries, and feel more like themselves again.

And now for the fun part: Julie has beaten The Simpsons arcade game from start to finish. Yep — the entire game. No quitting halfway. Just pure determination, and probably a few intense moments. It’s that steady “I’ve got you” energy she brings into the therapy room too.

Outside of work, you’ll find her adventuring with her family, reading, spending time with friends, or enjoying anything involving cool dragons.

If your mood tends to shift with the seasons, you’re not imagining it. Longer, brighter evenings can make daily life feel a little lighter too.

Daylight Savings can support mental health by:
-Making it easier to get outside after work or school
-Encouraging more movement
-Supporting more social time and connection
-Reducing the “it’s already dark” end-of-day slump
-Boosting light exposure for people indoors most of the day
-Making evenings feel longer, lighter, and more doable

If the time change still throws you off, that’s normal. Your body and brain take time to adjust. Start small: step outside for a few minutes after dinner, open the blinds earlier, and keep your evening routine steady.

Save this as a gentle reminder for the week ahead, and reach out if you’d like support through seasonal transitions.

Midweek reminder: healing doesn’t have to be rushed.

Sometimes the bravest step is simply showing up — even if you’re nervous, unsure, or tired.

Our waiting room is more than a place to sit…
it’s the start of a safe space where you can breathe, feel supported, and begin again. 💜

Happy Wednesday from all of us at Daring Greatly Psychological.

We take the time to build trust, meet you where you are, and work at a pace that feels right for you. Our clinicians bring diverse training, trauma-informed approaches, and a deep respect for each person’s story.

Meet Amy MacMullin đź’ś

Amy’s journey into psychology began abroad, where working with children in schools sparked a deep passion for supporting kids and youth. That experience shaped her path forward, leading her to graduate studies and a career grounded in curiosity, compassion, and growth. Along the way, her love of travel and learning only deepened her commitment to meaningful, heart-led work.

We’re grateful to have Amy as part of the Daring Greatly team—bringing warmth, experience, and thoughtful care into every space she enters.

Family isn’t about perfection—it’s about connection. 💜

On Family Day, we’re reminded that meaningful moments are often found in the everyday laughter, shared presence, and small acts of care. Strong families aren’t defined by having it all figured out, but by showing up for one another, even when things feel messy.

However you’re spending today, we hope it includes a little more patience, a little more warmth, and space to simply be together.

Technology is woven into nearly every part of young people’s lives—from school and social connection to entertainment and identity. While it offers convenience and creativity, it also raises important questions about attention, balance, and mental health for children and families.

In her review of The Amazing Generation, Rebecca invites young readers and parents to pause and reflect:

“Has your brain been hijacked by technology and tech wizards? Are you using technology as your tool or are tech companies using you as their tool to make money?
The Amazing Generation by Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price is an engaging graphic novel and illustrated guide for young readers to rethink their relationship with modern technology. Combining research, challenges, and personal stories to educate readers about the dangers of technology, smart phones, and social media and how they are designed to be addictive; this book takes an empowerment approach encouraging young readers to take control their lives in a digital age and promote offline friendship and real-world fun through being rebels. It also educates readers how to effectively utilize technology in ways that serve them and their needs, instead of the tech giants.
Let this be your guide to leading a more authentic and adventurous life and break free of the shackles of technology.”
