Unfortunately our Community Outing Group was NOT chosen for the L.E.A.F initiative grant this year. Thank you to everyone who took the time to write something on our community page! I just wanted to share a couple of them.

Thank you to Ted Koot Construction for sponsoring our Community Outing Program.

Ted is a master of all things construction he's done various projects big and small in the past, but specializes in home renovations and has a passion for flipping houses. It is important to him to do things right the first time and to make sure it's high quality. He's able to bring his vision to life with the help of his partner in crime Darlene who keeps him organized ordering materials, looking after the books and helping with the design of his projects, together making a great team.

Looking to hire a certified PSW for e/o weekend with possibility of picking up additional shifts if wanted! Also open to a Full Time position with e/o weekend worked into the schedule.

The right candidate must be passionate about senior care, and have the right personality to work with individuals with dementia. An independent worker who is able to take initiative to provide quality care and problem solve on the spot. Must have a reliable working vehicle, preferably someone who lives in Stratford or very close by - majority if not all clients will be in Stratford.

Memorable Moments Senior Care Services

Memorable Moments Senior Care Services is a recreation and social program for isolated seniors and seniors with cognitive impairments in Stratford, Ontario. It is offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings 4:30 - 7:30 and two Saturday’s a month 9:30 - 3:00. It has been specially designed by Recreation Therapist Erin Koot to include mental and social stimulation, as well as fall prevention techniques. All programs are being offered in a small group atmosphere to allow clients the opportunity to thrive.

Erin Koot, founder and CEO of Memorable Moments Senior Care Services is a Recreation Therapist who has been working with seniors for the past ten years in all sectors of senior care. Through these experiences she noticed clients improvements in an engaging small group atmosphere. It allowed those with cognitive impairments the opportunity to process what is being asked of them and to respond. It also allowed for every participant to engage instead of being lost in the crowd if they are lower functioning or shy by nature.

Erin also noticed that there was a gap in the market to help serve caregivers. Currently there are no support services being offered to caregivers in the evening and weekends, with the exception of home care. Memorable Moments hopes to provide caregivers some much needed relief to look after their own personal care so they can be the best caregiver. This might include meeting with friends for cards, a designate night for running errands or just some alone time.

Erin is a graduate of the University of Waterloo in Therapeutic Recreation and Sport Business. She has been working with seniors for the past ten years in all sectors of senior care. These experiences have provided opportunities for continued education including becoming certified in;
