Did you know that every Thursday we host a Brunch session from 10am - 12:30pm?

That includes the food, 2.5 hours of respite and a fun time for participants! All for only $35 / session

To put it into comparison 1 hour of 1:1 in the home is $35 / hour so the programs are a great alternative for someone who just needs a short break

Need more time to run errands or just relax? We have an all day option on Thursdays 10am - 4pm

Or maybe your loved one needs a bit more social interaction in their life. We all need connection, with our small groups everyone gets to know each other very well and a community is made.

we only have 2 spots left!

Our baking group made some Shamerock cookies yesterday for St. Patrick’s

We’re lucky to have Cassie that helps run the program, she whipped out her ukulele and sang some Irish songs while they waited for the cookies to cool ☘️

With lots of new followers over the years I thought I should make a post.

Hi, I’m Erin Koot - Founder and CEO of both Memorable Moments and Memorable Connections.

Born and raised on a farm right outside of Stratford! I currently reside right in town now.

When I am not working I enjoy being very active with my two kids, playing hockey, training for triathlons and finding time for my guilty pleasure - going to the movies.

I am a Recreation Therapist and PSW with a lot of dementia training (listed below)

One of my first jobs was working in food services at a local retirement home. I loved working with seniors from the start and many years later that love is still there. While many shy away from residents with “behaviours” I always jumped right in, trying to get to know them better and figure out what was causing the distress. This is where my love for dementia care came in, I appreciate that it affects everyone differently and enjoy the challenge of trying to modify approaches and environments to improve their quality of life.

On top of growing my family I also started and grew my business. My team now consists of many amazing PSWs and Rec therapists! As well as the creation of a Not for Profit to provide additional options for seniors in our community with dementia.

I wear many hats at the moment - providing 1:1 support with clients, social media, scheduling, HR, marketing, website design and maintenance. As the business continues to grow I am now at the point where I’m ready to share some of these tasks with my growing team so I can focus on the things I love like still having time to see clients personally and more time to check in with families.

My goals for 2026:
- continue to grow both businesses
- a team picture
- providing training opportunities for my employees
- consistent social media posts

Qualifications:
- Recreation Therapy and sport business
- PSW Certificate
- certified dementia care provider
- GPA
- fundamentals of hospice palliative care
- geriatric training program
- nursing rehabilitation and restorative care workshop
- validation communication
- the Montessori way
- the dementia and behaviour training series
- principles of healthy aging
- Alzheimer’s a positive approach
-Parkinson’s education program
- CRADLE course

Yesterday we celebrated St.Patrick’s day

During the brunch program we made waffles, sausage, a bowl of fruit and toast.

In the afternoon we made Shamrock Shakes and had St Patrick cupcakes

We also had Mike Ryan in to sing, played some crokinole, ring toss and learned the history / played games related to St. Patrick’s

It was a fun day 🍀🍀🍀

Memorable Moments Senior Care Services

Memorable Moments Senior Care Services is a recreation and social program for isolated seniors and seniors with cognitive impairments in Stratford, Ontario. It is offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings 4:30 - 7:30 and two Saturday’s a month 9:30 - 3:00. It has been specially designed by Recreation Therapist Erin Koot to include mental and social stimulation, as well as fall prevention techniques. All programs are being offered in a small group atmosphere to allow clients the opportunity to thrive.

Erin Koot, founder and CEO of Memorable Moments Senior Care Services is a Recreation Therapist who has been working with seniors for the past ten years in all sectors of senior care. Through these experiences she noticed clients improvements in an engaging small group atmosphere. It allowed those with cognitive impairments the opportunity to process what is being asked of them and to respond. It also allowed for every participant to engage instead of being lost in the crowd if they are lower functioning or shy by nature.

Erin also noticed that there was a gap in the market to help serve caregivers. Currently there are no support services being offered to caregivers in the evening and weekends, with the exception of home care. Memorable Moments hopes to provide caregivers some much needed relief to look after their own personal care so they can be the best caregiver. This might include meeting with friends for cards, a designate night for running errands or just some alone time.

Erin is a graduate of the University of Waterloo in Therapeutic Recreation and Sport Business. She has been working with seniors for the past ten years in all sectors of senior care. These experiences have provided opportunities for continued education including becoming certified in;
