Cancer Care Wig Room-Knox Stratford The Cancer Care Wig Room was created in 2004 to provide wigs, hats and scarves to cancer patients in Southwestern Ontario. We have helped over 1000 clients.

The Wigs and Accessories Room was created in August of 2004 from a need in the Stratford community for providing cancer patients with head accessories during their treatments. With community fundraising and individual donations, the Wig Room has been able to provide wigs, hats, and scarves all FREE of charge. To set up a personal appointment, contact 519-271-0373 and leave a confidential message.

One of the volunteers will return the call as soon as possible. VOLUNTEERS AND HAIRDRESSER
The volunteers of the Wig Room are very dedicated and committed to helping each client confidentially, with their specific needs. The volunteers of the month set up appointments to meet with the clients and their family or friends. A major commitment comes from our own volunteer hairdressers, who are very particular in helping each individual pick an appropriate colour and style to make them look and feel better. Sometimes the client will want their hair shaved off in order to have the best fit for the wig and to alleviate the shock of losing it. Most clients leave with a little smile on their face and hope in their hearts. HATS, HEAD COVERINGS, SCARVES
A wide variety of seasonal hats as well as tie-backs, beanies and beautiful scarves are also available. CANCER CARE MISSION
The Cancer Care Mission at Knox strives to work closely with the health care community to be able to provide wigs and accessories to any cancer patient in need. The demand for this service has grown throughout Southwestern Ontario with clients coming from surrounding counties and through hospitals in KW, London, Wingham, Owen Sound, and Stratford where patients are undergoing treatments. Friday Fun Day - May 1 at 1:30 Cancer Care Wig Room-Knox Stratford is excited to host our friends, the Wellspring Stratford volunteers. Sharing our common caring and compassionate work for cancer clients in our community.

Friday Fun Day – Offsite Visit 💛

On Friday, May 1 at 1:30 PM, we’re heading out on a special road trip to visit the wonderful team at the Knox Wig Room.

PSA: We get lots of questions about our aqua knockers so we thought we would provide a quick summary. We do pay close attention when someone requests an aqua knocker to make sure that is what we are sending! For the recipient, just know that all knitted knockers (whether aqua or regular) will look the same. It’s the yarn that is different and you might not be able to tell the difference. Regular knockers are made out of cotton and aqua knockers are made out of an acrylic yarn (as it dries faster). All knockers are also stuffed the same but we do recommend when you order aqua ones that you take the stuffing out and replace it with the netting from a bath scrunchie to make it more water resistant. My mom's hair was her crown, and it told the world who she was. She lost her hair a few months ago due to her cancer treatment.
Yesterday was a good day for her. No words could describe how it felt to see the big smile on my mom's face, during and after our visit to The Cancer Care Wig Room at Knox Presbyterian Church.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving her back her confidence. Thank you to the most kind and gentle soul Adalinda, your compassion and caring ways made my mom so comfortable. She was so pleased with the option of wigs and that there was the perfect one just for her sitting and waiting for her.

The Wig Room is run by volunteers and is located inside Knox @ Copperlight, 142 Ontario St., Stratford, by appointment only.
Appointments are necessary and made by leaving a confidential message on the Church answering machine. One of our volunteers will contact you and arrange to meet at a mutually agreeable time.
You then meet us and find a wig that you like and our hairdresser will trim it to suit you.
