What a wonderful way to wrap up the week with a lively Happy Hour at Woodland Towers! The drinks were flowing, laughter filled the room, and we were treated to a beautiful violin performance by our very own musical resident, Mo. His song selection was perfectly timed as we head into Robbie Burns Day on Sunday, setting just the right tone for the celebration. We were also delighted by a special ditty from Gail, which made the afternoon even more memorable. A truly fun, joyful way to end a great week together! 🎶 🎻🥂✨

What a wonderful afternoon at our Bring and Brag discussion group this week. A heartfelt thank-you to all of the residents who brought along special mementos and meaningful stories to share with the group. Jerry shared a beautifully hand-carved woggle, along with a wonderful story from his scouting days, and also brought his scout compass and scout jamboree mugs. Bev brought a sachet shaker from the 1800s, once used to scent garment drawers. Larry shared a photo of plowing snow in 1965 with a V-nose plow just north of Rostock, Ontario, alongside his father. Brenda brought wood-burning art created by her nephew. Ruth shared a hand-knitted blanket she worked on over the past month. Sandy brought a singing bear gifted to her by her true love, Magic, and we learned the song it sings is “I Will” by The Beatles. It was a truly special time of sharing stories, memories, and getting to know our neighbours a little better.

A heartfelt thank you to Frances Taylor from Seniors Mental Health for taking the time to come and speak with our residents about ways to beat the winter blues. Frances shared practical and encouraging strategies such as staying engaged in activities, maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, keeping a healthy sleep schedule, and remembering the importance of asking for help when needed. She also highlighted valuable community services, group therapy options, and simple mental wellness exercises that can support overall well-being. Her presentation was engaging, reassuring, and truly uplifting, and our residents gained so much from the experience. We are very grateful for her time, knowledge, and compassion.
