The practice of Feng Shui has a deep connection to the seasons. The earth element is the star in the fall providing stability and grounding. When we have a solid footing we feel safe and protected.

Fall or autumn brings a solid connection to Mother Earth. We see the changing light and cooler days, and we feel a connection with the smell, feel, and the colors that give us purpose and meaning.

The smell of the harvest and the richness of the soil has a grounding effect. We feel more solid after the light, hot busyness of summer. It forecasts cooler days and warmer clothes. In Feng Shui we celebrate the coming of fall, the solid dependability that its nature provides us.

The feel of a cooler climate, the brisk breezes and the sudden rain/snow remind us to button up, and layer our clothing with warm cozy sweaters. In Feng Shui this provides an opportunity to get cozy with a warm drink, welcome hearty meals to the dining table, and dig out our warm blankets from storage. This gives us a sense of belonging and connection with our home, family and friends.

Ah the colors of fall. Rich vibrant oranges, yellows, and browns. This denotes the earthy feeling that connects us to the planet. It provides us with a sense of purpose and meaning as we celebrate Thanksgiving, and understand the true value of gratitude.

So, let’s welcome the gifts of fall and raise a glass to its treasures!

For some the approaching spring brings with it a desire to sort and clean out any dark, crowded spaces in our homes.

Working with the principles of Feng Shui you can make short order of your purging and refining. Asking yourself some key questions can help direct you and set the tone for success. Questions like: do I use or like this item, when was the last time I used this item, what do I feel when I hold this item ( sad, happy memory, nothing), you get the idea. It is important to connect with your stuff so you can make clearer decisions. Purging creates a feeling of space and clarity.

So put a spring in your step and clear out some unused, cluttered spaces. It will feel good and prepare you for the warmer days ahead.

Feng Shui Consultation Process

It is exciting to imagine another possibility. Since covid I have been working with clients virtually, and it has been an enriching experience.
If this is something you would be interested in exploring I would be happy to help with your Feng Shui needs.

What do I actually do?

As a Feng Shui professional I am trained to help my clients identify areas of their home that feel unbalanced and chaotic. It is important to have a discussion about what feels ‘off’ for you and your family. Just like us, our home environment can sometimes feel unwell and ‘out of sorts’. It’s good to pay attention to these cues.

Our first conversation will include a discussion about areas that are working and what areas are not working in your home.

Some examples might include:
a small, cluttered family entrance to the home, a feeling of unease when you enter any space in your home,
any space that is currently not working for you or perhaps a room in your home you never use or enter.

What I need you to do?

You can esend a floor plan of your home (doesn’t have to be fancy, just a simple drawing of the home’s layout) along with any photos that may provide insight into identified issues.

What is next?

I will design a Bagua map (floor plan) of your home which will correlate with areas of your life, career/life path, family, friends, abundance, love etc.
I will also provide possible solutions to help with your identified issues, and some things I will gleam from the Bagua map.

How many times do we communicate?

The total of our communication is:

one initial meeting,
a follow up with questions, concerns, then Bagua reading call and
if necessary, a final call for any questions, clarifications, or concerns

In total you will receive 4 opportunities to communicate with me.

How much will this cost?

The total cost is $200.
Can be paid by etransfer or a mailed cheque

Thank you for your time.

How to connect with me?

Summer is on its way and the outdoor lifestyle is calling. With the many restrictions in place that keep us close to home, our backyards can be a special place to unwind, relax, and spend time with our contact circle. The principles of Feng Shui can help us discover balanced, fun activities that can create ways to enjoy the great outdoors.

A simple family barbecue or perhaps chairs around a fire pit making s’mores can lighten our hearts and bring us great satisfaction. How about opening our heart chakra by singing some campfire songs!
Perhaps a backyard ‘treasure hunt’ or a game of ‘hide and seek’ will help tweek interest for the adventure seekers. If you are lucky enough to have a pool, the element of water can create a sense of weightlessness and safety.

There are many ways to create a sense of fun and adventure at home this summer as we continue to work through this challenging time.
Happy summer!

Building Clear Intentions

In the practice of Feng Shui we encourage the art of creating intentions. When we have clarity there is a visual path in front of us that guides our way. For many it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what we want or need to build a happy healthy life. We move between what we think we need (what others may expect from us) to what we actually need (listening to our inner voice) in this moment.

When we find clarity of purpose we can start the process of building the life we wish to live. Some questions you might ponder to help with this process are:

-What ideas, people or things create excitement and interest for me?
-What am I often drawn to in my day to day experience, do I find myself outside walking in nature, sitting in a coffee shop with friends, visiting an elderly relative, or just staying home reading a book?
-Explore your habits and inclinations. Notice when you feel engaged and excited or when you are bored and restless. These are clues to a clearer understanding of where you need to focus your attention.

Feng Shui can help build clarity and provide tools to move forward with your best life.

So here we go, sliding into another season. September brings new beginnings to many. New classroom, perhaps new job, new town or even new country. It defines itself as a time of transition and change. The shifting from the lazy days of summer to routines and schedules. With new beginnings comes uncertainty, change can feel unsteady and full of potholes. So, how do we create a fresh perspective on change and embrace the shift? Feng Shui teaches us that change is constant and ever evolving. So why do we resist what is happening? Guess we like to know what’s going on, to forecast the future with certainty, ah! To be human! So I thought I would provide some tips to help create a smoother transition. The thing is we all resist change, so we can stew in the pot together and complain about ‘ah, summer is over and with it the warmer days,’ or ‘I am not ready for my holiday to be over, it was way to short.’ And so on......! One way to help is to think about how the cooler days can bring their own reward, apple picking, the harvest, and establishing a new routine like regular fitness or taking a short course in something you are interested in helps give you a focus and create a feeling of satisfaction. Perhaps you have been feeling restless and unable to settle, Fall is a wonderful time to declutter those items you no longer love or need. This helps to create balance and harmony in your home/life. Fall also provides opportunities to evaluate where you are in your life and search out opportunities for healthier options. It seems people get back to routine activities like book club, fitness, or meeting up for coffee with friends. By shifting our perspective we can find joy and fun in the Fall months. Give it a try!

There is something magical about starting fresh. As 2018 reaches us we are full of promise and plans for the upcoming year. Feng Shui teaches us to bring along what we need/love, and leave the rest. This is true for all aspects of our life, private and public. The private could include our home environment that holds our treasures, our secrets, our family, and our memories. Perhaps a good house cleaning of what no longer serves us can be a welcoming step as we round the corner to the new year. The public aspect of our life might include our work life, our interests/ hobbies, our friends, and our social life. Again perhaps a good triage of what’s working and what’s not working can help us declutter many unwanted aspects of our lifestyle. Starting fresh with fresh eyes can inform us of how we would like to experience the new year.
May you know contentment and peace of mind as you dance your way into 2018!!

Part 2 of the power of doorways/entrances. Once you pass through a doorway it often changes your experience. The energy shifts and with it your feelings. Many of us notice these sensations when we arrive home. Passing from the public space of the outside world to the private space of home! Next time you enter your home notice how you are feeling. Are you happy to be home or is there an unsetted feeling? Notice your surroundings, is there clutter, can you fully open the door, or conversely, does it feel open and welcoming? When an entranceway is cluttered with boots, coats, or any type of blocks, it can stop the flow of energy (chi) and create blockages in your life. Basically, you become stuck. If you can't fully open the door perhaps your life is lived in half measures, you get so far and then you feel stuck unable to move forward. And in turn, when your entrance is clutter free, warm and inviting, you feel like you have space to breathe and can move forward with ease. The simple solution of using colour can enhance or repell when entering a space, explore what colours draw you to a space and what colours create a feeling of avoidance. Usually soft colours create a subdued feeling while bright happy colours create feelings of energy and excitement. So next time you pass through a doorway notice how you are feeling and notice your surroundings. You can create an empowering environment that enhances your life just by opening up your awareness of your living environment. Hope this was helpful and that I have empowered you to notice and adjust your living/working environments for a joyful life!
