EXHIBITION OPENING
Saturday, January 13th
Noon until 5pm

In collaboration with The Ukrainian Nightingale Project, we are proud to present a new art exhibition by internationally exhibited Ukrainian artist, Oksana Zbrutska and her father, Andrii Zbrutskyi.

Oksana and her father Andrii were both well esteemed artists in the Ukraine and beyond. Andrii worked in the Art Fund of Ukraine as an easel painting artist and a master of reproductions and painted many large frescoes and murals in churches in Western and Central Ukraine. Until the end of communist rule in 1991, the pursuit of persona art was not allowed and artists like Andrii did not sign their works for fear of persecution.

Despite these restrictions, Andrii was commissioned to produce paintings for the mayor and officials of the City of Kiev. The Sheikh of Saudi Arabia also purchased many of Andrii’s paintings. While his work at the that time was mainly large historical compositions portraying famous heroes of the Ukraine, Andrii prefers painting landscapes than political works. His current work reflects this with a focus on creating Okanagan inspired landscapes.

Oksana’s work has been internationally exhibited and are housed in both private and corporate collections in Greece, Japan, China, Mexico, North America and in Europe. Recognized as the founder of the ‘Ukrainian ethno-romantic style’, Oksana was accorded the international Cultural Diplomacy Award and conferred the honorary title of “Honored Artist of Ukraine” by decree of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2022.

ECSTATIC DANCE JOURNEY
Thursday, November 9th, 2023
Fridays, Dec 8th/Jan 12th/Feb 9th
7pm - 830pm
$25/event

The idea of ecstatic dance is to completely lend yourself and your body to the rhythm, leading to a state of trance and ecstasy (hence the name "ecstatic"). Exploring sensations within the body, noticing what wants to be moved, observing any thoughts, images, and feelings that arise as the body releases into the rhythm and flow of the music.

Each class's playlist is crafted to lead the dancer on a journey through various states of conscious awareness, ranging from deep introspection to joyful play, encouraging your full and total embodiment. While there may occasionally be suggestions or invitations shared by the facilitator during the dance to encourage greater body awareness, this is free form movement.

No dance experience is needed. Come immerse yourself in the music and movement and enjoy the experience!

STAR MAKING WORKSHOP
Sunday, November 5th
10am - 230pm

As winter approaches we start to decorate our homes for the Holidays. Join .stanley in creating some festive stars woven with grape vines, willow, dogwood and Alder.

Annabel Stanley owns her own vineyard in the Okanagan, from which she uses the materials to weave her baskets and sculptures.

Annabel has been featured in the New Zealand Gardener, New Zealand Cuisine, the first issue of Sculpture Pacific in Canada, and appeared on National TV in New Zealand .

She is a director on the board for  and gives several workshops through out the year as well as overseeing many other workshops offered by local and visiting artists.

Her influences have been willow artist Serena de la Hay and environmental sculptor Andrew Goldsworthy.  She has also studied with Peter Faulkner, a coracle builder (hazel and hide small lightweight boats), learning new styles of weaving with Martha Cloudsley from BC and trained in willow sculpture with Julieann Worrall Hood in Wiltshire England.

Annabel has always had her feet planted firmly in the soil as her hands reach up into the branches of the trees and she loves to share this passion with young minds, getting them outdoors and appreciating and creating with nature.
