We’re Growing – Welcome Asbestos Academy to the Team!
We’re excited to announce that Asbestos Academy is now part of Assured First Aid and Safety. They bring a ton of knowledge and passion for teaching in the asbestos abatement world, and we’re so happy to have them on board.
Darien Shields is the lead instructor at Asbestos Academy and brings over 20 years of combined experience in construction, asbestos abatement, and safety. Since 2023, he’s been creating training manuals for several WorkSafeBC-approved providers, covering Levels 1, 2, 3, and S. His real-world experience and deep understanding of what workers face in the field are at the heart of everything we teach.
Hailey Neophytou is the organizational powerhouse behind the Academy. She joined in early 2025 and has been key in shaping the courses and helping run things smoothly. While new to the asbestos field, she is gaining hands-on experience training alongside Darien. Hailey's strong organizational skills, approachable teaching style, and commitment to student support have made her an integral team member.
Asbestos Academy was created to help contractors and workers keep up with changing regulations without breaking the bank. We don’t just offer training; we also support businesses as they become registered abatement contractors. That includes help with paperwork, safety procedures, and ensuring everything aligns with WorkSafeBC requirements.
