We’re honored to welcome Njeri Kontulahti, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Vancity Community Foundation as one of our incredible speakers at The Safe Haven 2025 conference!
Njeri (Jeri) Kontulahti is the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Vancity Community Foundation. She brings over 25 years of experience advancing housing, homelessness solutions, and financial inclusion for Indigenous, racialized, and equity-deserving communities at Both Vancity Credit Union and at the Vancity Community Foundation.
Njeri holds a BA in Economics from the University of Manitoba and a Masters in Management of Cooperatives and Credit Unions from St. Mary’s University. Passionate about community development, she volunteers as a facilitator for the Cooperative Development Foundation’s Women’s Mentorship Program and serves on several non-profit boards, including Kinghaven Peardonville House.
She is also a founding director of a non-profit Daughters Of Hope Resources Society dedicated to supporting Black and racialized individuals and families at risk of homelessness in British Columbia. Njeri is humbled to live and work in Surrey, BC, the traditional territories of the QayQayt, Kwantlen, q̓íc̓əy̓ (Katzie), Semiahmoo, kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) and Tsawwassen First Nations,
