Diane Lee & Associates - Physiotherapy

Diane Lee & Associates - Physiotherapy Empowering you through knowledge, movement & awareness to help you reach your active goals!

At Diane Lee & Associates - Consultants in Physiotherapy we strive to be a center of excellence and our goal is to address the cause of your pain as opposed to merely treating your painful structures. All of the physiotherapists at Diane Lee & Associates are experts in the physical diagnosis of movement impairments and have taken several post-graduate courses in their specialty. They work as a team, frequently consulting with one another to bring you the best care possible. Ultimately, our goal is to help you change the way you use your body by initially creating awareness of the non-optimal movement patterns that currently overload structures and create pain. We will provide you with the tools necessary (knowledge, control, flexibility & strength) to move/exercise in ways that create optimal loading and efficient, pain free movement. If this approach sounds intriguing, we encourage you to explore this site for further information on our passion.

Yesterday, our Yoga Therapist Leanne led an in-service for the team at Island Kids Physio Victoria. 💫 We love sharing knowledge across clinics and supporting each other as practitioners.

In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the team wore orange to honour residential school survivors, their families and communities. As health care providers, we reflect on how we can continue to support healing, understanding, and respect in our practice every day 🧡

Moving Better with Osteoarthritis

Did you know that your joints and brain are capable of adapting — even in the presence of osteoarthritis? It’s true: movement doesn’t just strengthen muscles — it rewires how your brain processes pain and how your body responds to load.

Here’s what the science tells us:
🧠 Neuroplasticity means the brain can “relearn” how to interpret joint signals — reducing overactive pain pathways
💪 Loading joints progressively (yes, even arthritic ones!) stimulates cartilage metabolism and improves joint lubrication
🦶 Improved motor control and coordination helps stabilize painful joints and prevent flare-ups
📈 Regular guided movement reduces systemic inflammation, improves sleep, and boosts mood — all essential for chronic pain management

In our 7-Week OA Program, we combine these principles in a safe, progressive format — starting with a 1-on-1 assessment and continuing with small group sessions led by Physio Josh. The environment is supportive, scientific, and honestly… fun.

Because living with arthritis doesn’t mean living in pain. Let’s retrain your joints and rewire your confidence.

☀️ Why is summer the best time to work on your osteoarthritis?
Because your joints are happier in the heat!

✅ Warmer weather helps increase circulation and reduce joint stiffness
✅ You’re more likely to be active, which helps lubricate joints and decrease pain
✅ Sunlight exposure boosts vitamin D, critical for joint and bone health

Research shows that consistent exercise is the #1 non-drug strategy to reduce OA pain and improve mobility — and there’s no better season to start than summer.

Our 7-Week OA Program includes personalized care + small group movement sessions with Physio Josh, designed to make movement fun, focused, and effective.

Massage therapists often tailor their techniques to meet the specific needs and goals of each client, making their services versatile and beneficial across a broad spectrum of individuals.

Prenatal massage can provide comfort and relief for pregnant persons by addressing specific discomforts associated with pregnancy, such as back pain and swelling.

Postpartum massage relaxes tight muscles, helps increasing circulation, and relieving stress. Therapists can help reduce anxiety, promote relaxation, and improve overall mental well-being.

👣 Not All Orthotics Are Created Equal 👣

When it comes to managing foot pain, lower limb injuries, or postural issues, one-size-fits-all solutions don’t work.

Why? Because different foot types and movement patterns require different orthotic interventions. An orthotic that works brilliantly for one person might aggravate symptoms in another if not properly matched to the individual’s biomechanics, foot posture, and functional demands.

🔍 What makes a good orthotic prescription?

✔️ A comprehensive assessment of your foot type, gait, and postural alignment
✔️ Consideration of the specific injury or condition being managed (e.g., plantar fasciitis, tibial stress syndrome, hip pain)
✔️ Knowledge of how different orthotic materials and designs affect load transfer, joint positioning, and muscle activation
✔️ An understanding of your activity levels and footwear choices

A well-prescribed orthotic can:
• Reduce pain
• Improve efficiency in walking and running
• Prevent recurrence of injury
• Support long-term postural alignment

✨ It’s not just about cushioning the foot — it’s about influencing the whole kinetic chain.

🦶 Book your personalized assessment with our Certified Pedorthist, Noelle Trotter, who brings over 25 years of advanced clinical expertise in custom foot orthotics, gait analysis, and injury management.
