Dr. Pamela Smith, ND ~ The Nest Cloverdale Integrative Health ~
~ Nectar Naturopathic ~
I am currently accepting new patients in Kelowna & Surrey BC

Leading a balanced lifestyle can be tricky these days. I strive to help my patients incorporate healthy strategies that work within their busy schedules.

~ About Me ~
Over the past ten years, I have been fortunate to volunteer with many medical organizations in many countries including Eastern Europe, Central America, and India. These experiences gave me a better understanding of healthcare and l

iving conditions around the world. They also deepened my understanding of the value and power treating the cause of disease has and how far compassion and empathy go to assisting patients with their journey back to health. As a naturopathic doctor (ND), I am a primary care provider able to empower you and your family on your journey to optimal health. As your ND, I can assist you to optimize your health and provide education on how to obtain more energy, decrease chronic pain, and age gracefully. My goal as your practitioner is to provide support and compassion to all situations and to meet you where you are with your health.

Honoured to be featured in the CCNM Alumni Spotlight!

Reflecting on my journey from student to naturopathic doctor, I’m so grateful for the foundation Boucher provided and for the incredible community of practitioners I’m proud to be part of.

My path has led me to supporting families through all stages of life, from pregnancy and childhood to perimenopause and beyond. It’s a privilege to do this work every day and to help my patients feel their best in a way that’s sustainable and individualized.

Thank you to CCNM for highlighting diverse paths in naturopathic medicine and celebrating the work we do
If you’re curious about naturopathic care or your own health journey, I’m always happy to connect.

Did you know, you can have a “normal” blood sugar and still have insulin resistance? Testing your fasting insulin provides a deeper insight into how your body is actually responding to diet, stress, and inflammation before problems show up on standard labs. It can also be a reason for the inability to lose weight despite eating clean and exercising.
Early testing = early intervention and a more focused treatment.

Acupuncture for Labour Prep
Acupuncture can be a gentle and effective way to help your body prepare for birth.

Here are a few of the amazing benefits:
🩵 Encourages cervical ripening and labour readiness
🩵 Promotes optimal baby positioning
🩵 Supports natural oxytocin release
🩵 Calms the mind and eases anxiety
🩵 Relieves late-pregnancy aches and tension

A few relaxing sessions starting as early 36 weeks can help your body feel balanced and ready for the big day.

Herbal Support in the Third Trimester

As you enter those final weeks of pregnancy, gentle herbal supports can help your body prepare for birth. Two of my favourites are Red Raspberry Leaf Tea and Mother’s Cordial tincture

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea
Traditionally used to tone and strengthen the uterus, this tea may support more effective contractions when labour begins. It’s also rich in minerals and antioxidants that nourish both mom and baby.
Start around 32–34 weeks with 1 cup daily and increase as tolerated.

Mother’s Cordial Herbal Tincture
A time-honoured blend used in the final few weeks of pregnancy to support uterine readiness and calm the nervous system. It’s meant to encourage a smooth, natural birthing process — not to induce labour, but to help your body prepare.

⚠️ As always, herbs should be used thoughtfully and only in low-risk pregnancies. Check with your care provider before starting anything new and stop if you notice early contractions or any unusual symptoms.

Dr Pam added both into her matcha latte 🤣

World Menopause Day - October 18th
Menopause is a natural but complex hormonal transition and not just about hot flashes. As estrogen and progesterone decline, women can experience shifts in mood, sleep, metabolism, cognition, cardiovascular health, and bone density. These changes highlight why menopause care must go beyond symptom management to address the whole body.

Supporting women in this stage includes optimizing hormone balance (sometimes through bioidentical hormone therapy), supporting adrenal and thyroid function, improving nutrient status, and maintaining muscle and bone strength through lifestyle and nutrition.

With the right support, this can be a time of renewed vitality and empowerment.

I wanted to share that I’ll be beginning my maternity leave this November and will be away until February 2026. During this time you will continue to be supported by our wonderful team of naturopathic doctors at & who are available to ensure your care is seamless and ongoing.

If you’d like to review or update your treatment plan with me before I step away, I do have appointment spots this month. This can be a great opportunity to check in, adjust your protocols, and feel confident moving into the winter months.

Thank you so much for your trust in me and our clinic. I look forward to reconnecting with you soon!

Warmly,
Dr. Pam

The vaginal microbiome is like your body’s built-in defense system.
It’s made up of good bacteria (mostly Lactobacillus) that keep the pH balanced, protect against infections, and even support fertility. When this balance gets disrupted—by antibiotics, stress, or hormones—it can lead to things like yeast infections or discomfort. Supporting your vaginal microbiome is an important step in caring for your overall health.
A quick at-home swab can help uncover if the issue is really a chronic infection—or simply a lack of beneficial bacteria that need support,
