Love was in the air at Elim Village this week. At Fleetwood, a beautiful afternoon of dessert and music brought everyone together, while at Garrison Crossing, a special social created time to connect with neighbours and friends.

An idea mentioned at a Sunday night Bible study has grown into a community that’s now home to over a thousand seniors.

More than 30 years ago, W***y Van Huizen and Winnie Vandenberg were part of a small group that asked a simple but challenging question: What does it really mean to put faith into action? That question sparked the idea that would become Elim Village.

Today, both women live at Elim—and their story is a powerful reminder of how small acts of faith can grow into something far bigger than imagined.

A Community That Cares

Beginning in the early 1990’s, the idea of a Christian retirement community was formed from a small group of Christians studying the book of James. More than two decades later, the original vision is now a reality. Our Fleetwood campus now offers a full range of seniors housing and care options and we have expanded our concept to the picturesque community of Garrison Crossing.

Today, in a community bonded by faith, we have over 600 residents in Independent Living, Assisted/Supported Living and Full Care who call Elim Village ‘home.’
