At Surrey Sports and Rehab, we can help. Here is our Pre Op Checklist!
1) Ensure you understand what the procedure will involve and how you will feel immediately after.
2) Have a discussion about your home environment with regards to stairs, seating height and support for daily needs such as bathing, food, aides and post op pain relief.
3) Perform a thorough assessment for your current physical status.
4) Teach you the necessary Pre op exercises for your condition, including how to use any aides like walkers and crutches.
5) Review the Post op exercises and discuss what your goals are for after your surgery, so we can help you achieve them. Whether that is getting back to gold or playing with the Grandchildren.
We are here to help you feel better and stay better!

If you have been involved in a car accident, ICBC and whiplash injuries need to be taken very seriously. Because symptoms of a whiplash injury can take weeks or months to manifest, it is easy to be fooled into thinking that you are not as injured as you really are. Too often people don't seek treatment following a car accident because they don't feel hurt. That is the most common mistake that is made by individuals and then the long term problems associated with that is irreversible. By far, the most common injury to the neck is a whiplash injury. Whiplash is caused by a sudden movement of the head, either backward, forward, or sideways, that results in the damage to the supporting muscles, ligaments and other connective tissues in the neck and upper back.
Unfortunately, by the time more serious complications develop, some of the damage from the injury may have become permanent. Numerous studies have shown that years after whiplash victims settle their insurance claims, roughly half of them state that they still suffer with symptoms from their injuries. If you have been in a motor vehicle or any other kind of accident, don't assume that you escaped injury if you are not currently in pain.
Due to their complicated nature and profound impact on peoples lives, few topics in health care generate as much controversy as whiplash injuries. Unlike a broken bone where a simple x-ray can validate the presence of the fracture and standards of care can direct a health care professional as to the best way in which to handle the injury, whiplash injuries involve an unpredictable combination of nervous system, muscles joints and connective tissue disruption that is not simple to diagnose and can be even more of a challenge to treat. A Physiotherapist with their years of experience or your doctor who has aces to such cases every day of his professional career are able to gauge the damage and also work with the treatment in a more personalised and rehabilitative way. In order to help you understand the nature of whiplash injuries and how they should be treated, it is necessary to spend a bit of time discussing the mechanics of how whiplash injuries occur. Contact your Physiotherapist at Surrey Sports and Rehabilitation for an initial visit today, to assess the damage and treat it. We at Surrey sports and Rehab have been treating ICBC clientele for decades and have all the equipment and expertise for curing the problems from the cause.

As we discussed briefly in the introduction, whiplash injuries can manifest in a wide variety of ways, including neck pain, headaches, fatigue, upper back and shoulder pain, cognitive changes and low back pain. Due to the fact that numerous factors play into the overall whiplash trauma, such as direction of impact, speed of the vehicles involved, as well as s*x, age and physical condition, it is impossible to predict the pattern of symptoms that each individual will suffer. However with the Physiotherapists at Surrey Sports and Rehabilitation, we have a unique assessment format that is utilised to identify all the red flags and also creat the best treatment plan for you. Additionally, whiplash symptoms commonly have a delayed onset, often taking weeks or months to present. Although you may need a ICBC claim number or a doctors referral for claiming the health coverage from ICBC, you can also walk in without a referral and our front desk will guide you for the process.
Along with Neck Pain, Several other symptoms may be indicative of a Car accident Injury, Like Dizziness, Vertigo like Symptoms or even lethargy or depression. We have a treatment plan for every problem associated with an accident and would be happy to help you feel better and stay better.
