The Burnaby Hospital operating room team recently hosted an educational open house to give physicians and surgical staff a hands-on look inside the brand new OR spaces opening this spring as part of Phase 1 of the Burnaby Hospital redevelopment.

The morning brought teams together for interactive learning, live demonstrations and a chance to explore new technology— including updated surgical booms and lights, integration systems, ceiling lifts, security upgrades and enhanced visualization equipment.

Participants also practiced full room set-ups, positioning OR tables, lights, monitors and equipment to optimize workflow and patient care. Additional stations showcased the new Omnicell systems designed to support efficiency, safety and seamless clinical practice.

This is the future of the operating room at Burnaby Hospital, and we’re proud to be building it together. 💙

From Saskatchewan to British Columbia's beautiful west coast ✨

Looking for growth, new challenges and a warmer climate, registered nurse Jay chose B.C. after learning about the province’s commitment to nurse well‑being through the introduction of Minimum Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratios (mNPR) — the first of its kind in Canada, helping nurses focus on what matters most: patient care.

With support from her new manager, guidance from our recruitment teams and financial support for relocating from outside the province, settling into the Tri-Cities was smoother than expected. Now, Jay is thriving in a dynamic role with continuous learning and a close-knit, supportive team.
