UNO is a fun and flexible game we often use in speech therapy to target a wide range of communication skills.

This game is great for working on:

• Colour and number vocabulary
• Expanding language (e.g., “I have a red 5,” “Your turn!”)
• Conversation and social interaction
• Practicing speech sounds in a motivating way

✨Weekly Sound Spotlight!✨

This week’s sound is “f.” Sometimes, we call this our Bunny Teeth Sound. The “f” sound is made by placing the top teeth on the bottom lip and blowing air out with the voice turned off.

Common errors we sometimes hear include “f” sounding like “p” or “b.” Practicing slowly and focusing on keeping the teeth on the lip while blowing air can really help. A helpful tip is to gently bite your bottom lip and blow air like you’re blowing out a candle!

From a developmental perspective, the “f” sound is typically acquired by around 4 years of age, though some children may still be refining it as they grow.

Stay tuned each week for a new sound and fun tips to help support your child’s speech development! 🎉
