✨ Weekly Sound Spotlight ✨

This week’s sound is “k.” Sometimes, we call this our Coughing or Knocking Sound. The “k” sound is made by lifting the back of the tongue to the roof of the mouth, building up air, and releasing it with the voice turned off.

Common errors we sometimes hear include “k” sounding like “t,” or the sound being left out of words. Practicing strong back-of-the-mouth sounds and exaggerating the air release can really help.

From a developmental perspective, the “k” sound is typically acquired by around 4 years of age, though some children may still be refining it as they grow.

Stay tuned for next week’s sound and more fun tips to support your child’s speech development! 🎉

✨ Weekly Sound Spotlight ✨

This week’s sound is “n.” Sometimes, we call this our Nose Sound. The “n” sound is made by placing the tongue just behind the top front teeth, turning your voice on, and allowing the air to come out through the nose.

Common errors we sometimes hear include “n” sounding like “d,” or the sound being left out of words. Practicing holding the sound (“nnnn”) and feeling the vibration in the nose can really help.

From a developmental perspective, the “n” sound is typically acquired by around 3 years of age, though some children may still be refining it as they grow.

Stay tuned for next week’s sound and more fun tips to support your child’s speech development! 🎉

✨ Weekly Sound Spotlight ✨

This week’s sound is “d.” Sometimes, we call this our Drumming Sound 🥁. The “d” sound is made by tapping the tongue just behind the top front teeth, building up air, and releasing it while keeping the voice turned on.

Common errors we sometimes hear include “d” sounding like “t,” or the sound being left out of words. Practicing clear tongue taps and feeling the vibration when the voice is on can really help.
From a developmental perspective, the “d” sound is typically acquired by around 3 years of age, though some children may still be refining it as they grow.

Stay tuned for next week’s sound and more tips to support your child’s speech development! 🎉

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved clinic dog, Wilson.

If you ever felt a little nervous coming to the clinic, only to be met by a fluffy, patient friend... that was Wilson’s magic. He specialized in turning apprehension into calm and silence into connection. During his time with us, he helped our clients feel safe, regulated, and ready to engage, simply by being his wonderful, gentle, and happy self.

The number of people he helped is immeasurable. The amount of love he gave was boundless. We will forever remember the quiet comfort he brought to our Saturdays and the joy he brought to our lives.

Run free among the raspberries, sweet Wilson. You were the best good boy! 🐾 ♥️
