Introducing our keynote speaker: Ruby Gill
Ruby Gill was the International Association Coordinator for Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) from January 2014 – September 2017. In this position, she reported directly to the International Board, supporting the ongoing development of the MSF Associative movement across the globe. She was responsible for carrying out the associative vision endorsed by the International General Assembly (the highest governing body in MSF) and for guiding associations around the world in balancing international coherence with their unique associative identity. From October 2017 to May 2018, Ruby worked as the Diversity and Inclusion Advisor to MSF. In this role, she developed and lead workshops for staff across the globe on diversity and inclusion, as well as supported senior management in developing Diversity and Inclusion Strategies and Frameworks.
Ruby trained as a Registered Nurse and worked in various clinic settings including Burns and Trauma and Addiction Services. She worked in Haiti following the 2010 Earthquake and in Nigeria in an MSF project treating under 5’s for lead poisoning. She also holds a certification as a LEAN Transformation Services Coordinator and graduated from McGill University’s International Masters in Health Leadership. Currently, she is teaching in the Bachelors of Science Nursing Program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
