Enjoy songs, bands or the genre of music that were favorites. Music is an integral part of life for many people, and a celebration of life service is the perfect event in which to showcase the meaningful music of your loved one's life.

Create a memory table
One of the essentials of any personalized funeral service is a memory table. We love memory tables because you can do so much with them. You could even make multiple memory tables that are set-up like “stations” to represent different chapters or passions in the deceased person’s life. The possibilities truly are endless here, so encourage your families to use their imagination

A Celebration of Life
This event shouldn't solely be a party for friends of the deceased to get together and hang out, though that's certainly an aspect of a celebration of life. There needs to be references to the deceased within the event, whether that's playing their favorite songs or running a slideshow of photos of the deceased throughout the duration of the event. Reminders of the deceased's full, happy life should be prevalent but not overbearing at the celebration.
Timing of Celebration
A celebration of life has a less rigid timeline than a funeral does since the body is not present at the celebration. Some people choose a celebration of life event as a way to gather loved ones despite varying schedules and availability; for many, it's simply easier to attend a celebration of life scheduled a couple months in advance instead of attending a funeral that happens following the death. The other advantage to a celebration of life scheduled weeks or months after the death is that the raw emotions may have subsided a little as mourners work through their grief.

WHAT IS A CELEBRATION OF LIFE?
A Celebration of Life is a ceremony that is held either in concert with a traditional funeral or memorial service or instead of a traditional service as a stand-alone event.
What makes a Celebration of Life different is the level of personalization and tone. A Celebration of Life is not a somber affair. Instead, we find lots of laughter and storytelling. The focus is not on the death of the person, but on the joy that the person brought to others.

Unique Celebration of Life Ideas

Ask attendees to bring along a story or memory of your loved one to share. Guests comfort levels will vary – you may want to provide time for those who would like to publicly share their memory, but also note cards for those who prefer to write down their memory to privately be shared with the family.

Why you should hire a Celebration of Life Planner
Why hire a Celebration of Life planner?
Overwhelming does not begin to describe planning a 100 plus person Celebration of Life memorial! Handling grief, family members suggestions and questions, then planning an event that has about 40 things that need to get done is intense pressure. Then you must get there early the day of to set everything up, coordinate vendors and stay late packing and cleaning everything up! How can you truly be present to honor your loved one and get the support you deserve and need from the family and friends that are attending? Eternally Loved is a Celebration of Life memorial planner that comes in and helps with everything! From finding out what you are looking for, who the person was so we can tailor everything to fit the life that was lived, budgeting, negotiating with vendors (flowers, caterers, bartenders, dove release, etc.) and coordinating everyone’s timeline, making notifications, finding venues, making programs and take-home items, producing slideshow, and so much more. Again, I feel the most important thing to having a Celebration of Life memorial planner isn’t just taking away the 30-50 hours that would go into preparing for the Celebration of Life, it is that you get to just show up the day of and be present! Why do weddings get to have planners, why aren’t there Celebration of Life planners since you are going through so many emotions and the timeline is tighter? Organizing a Celebration of Life can be intense and most people that do it on their own stifle the grieving process because they are so stressed out. Having a planner that organizes, coordinates and puts together everything allows you to grieve, allows you to stress less, and really be there with your family and friends.

Let us help you plan a Celebration of Life Together

While a celebration of life is not burdened by social expectations—it can be pretty much anything you want it to be—it's important to realize that the event you're planning should meet the emotional needs of the guests. So, think about exactly who will be there, and what they're likely to want or need. Then, bring in those unique lifestyle and personality characteristics of the deceased; perhaps add live music or refreshments, and you've got the beginnings of a remarkable celebration of life. There are many other memorial service ideas that can help you plan a celebration of life, so take some time to think about how your loved one would want to be remembered.
