Salt Wellness Centre

Salt Wellness Centre Salt features British Columbia’s first salt therapy bed, two salt rooms, two Oasis float tanks and a Wave float room.

Salt Wellness is an integrated Health Centre focused on Healing, Improving Sleep, Reducing Stress & Pain with Float Therapy, Infrared Sauna, Detox Foot Bath, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Health Coaching, Somatic Therapy, Dry Salt Therapy, Events & more. Salt Wellness Centre is an alternative health and wellness spa conveniently located in South Surrey providing a unique blend of complimentary therapies using the natural healing properties of salt and sensory reduction. Dry salt therapy, also known as halotherapy is an alternative respiratory and skin treatment that has a successful history of erasing or alleviating the debilitating symptoms of a wide spectrum of ailments, including Asthma, allergies related to air borne contaminants (such as Hay fever or Rhinitis), Bronchitis, Sinusitis, Cystic Fibrosis, Emphysema, Dermatitis in its many forms, Eczema, and Psoriasis, as well as enhancing general health. Even ear infections and cold and flu symptoms can be treated with salt therapy, helping you breathe easier and heal faster. Floatation therapy allows you to experience the healing effects of deep rest and weightlessness as you effortlessly float in super-saturated salt water, free from the distractions of all of your senses. The water you float in is 10 inches deep, infused with 900 pounds of Epsom salt, and is heated to the exact temperature of your skin, so you can experience a complete feeling of separation from your body, freeing your mind to open up new areas of exploration. If you suffer from back, neck or joint pain, or are seeking a natural way to renew your mind, have a creative breakthrough, improve your athletic performance, or develop an inner sense of peace, sensory deprivation float therapy is a natural, healthy way to achieve that balance.

As we are excited and preparing for spring, with that comes allergies and the reminder to boost your immunity to ward off those spring colds and flus. This season is a time when the beautiful buds are out and smell amazing; however they can cause respiratory symptoms for some. It’s also a time when the weather gets warmer but can still get cold and the temperature fluctuation can leave immune systems more vulnerable.

Our HALO (ACTIVE DRY SALT) THERAPY is designed to help you combat allergies, boost immunity and more. Our clients love the way their breathing is improved after one treatment, they notice less congestion, deeper breaths, and a sense of clarity (thats the increase in oxygen).

Bring a friend or family member into the salt room, enjoy real conversation, warm tea, fresh salt air, and a calming environment to build up your immunity this upcoming spring season. You’ll feel rested, and the added benefits of salt therapy is a feeling of gratitude for your lungs working hard to keep you healthy daily.

Though not a cure, many people find Halotherapy to be a supportive addition to their overall health routine and a great way to reduce inflammatory symptoms. Salt Therapy is a gentle, holistic approach to respiratory health and skin wellness while promoting relaxation. Salt Wellness offers our Himalayan Salt Room, a private room for you or others in your own private party. This is the best option if you don’t want to get undressed or you have more than one in your party. We also have our Salt Bed option which is the best option if you have skin conditions, need a concentrated treatment to assist with flu prevention or immunity boosting, pre/post travel or deeper relaxation. In this treatment, you are unclothed and laying on nice warm Himalayan salt and absorbing via skin and lungs. Either option is very relaxing and helpful.

Who Can Benefit from Halo Therapy?
- Adults and children with respiratory conditions
- Athletes seeking improved breathing performance
- Individuals with chronic skin conditions

If you want to come in for a tour & try salt therapy, reach out to us directly or stop by our location in South surrey!

Embracing the art of slowing down: as we embark on a new week, let’s take a moment together to appreciate the importance of slowing down and feeling safe in our bodies. In our fast-paced lives, it's easy to become overwhelmed by constant activity. Recovery and restoration isnt just for the weekends, the weekdays provide us with a chance to rejuvenate our bodies, minds, and nervous systems too.

So what are the key benefits anyway?

- Restores Your Nervous System: Slowing down allows for a reset of your nervous system, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety while fostering a sense of calm as you prepare for the upcoming week.
- Enhances Mental Clarity: A quieter day gives your mind the opportunity to recharge, leading to improved focus and creativity. This makes it easier to face challenges when Monday arrives.
- Improves Physical Health: Focusing on self-care activities such as gentle movement, stretching, or mindfulness can enhance your physical well-being by alleviating tension and encouraging relaxation.
- Fosters Emotional Well-Being: Use this time for reflection and to check in with your emotions. Slowing down can increase self-awareness and emotional regulation.
- Strengthens Relationships: Take this day to connect with your loved ones. Whether sharing a meal or engaging in meaningful conversations, nurturing these relationships is essential for our overall well-being.

This week, grant yourself the permission to slow down and rejuvenate. Whether through quiet reflection, enjoying nature, or simply indulging in a good book, prioritize what restores your energy. Our practitioners are focused on health & recovery, if you need someone to talk to, we are here for you.

Happy Valentines Day 💝 Oxytocin rises when your brain detects safety, trust, and connection with others or yourself. Here’s how to increase your oxytocin levels:

Physical touch (one of the strongest triggers):
Some examples of physical touch include hugging (especially more than 20 seconds), cuddling, holding hands, massage, s*x and or**sm and skin-to-skin contact (ie when a parent holds an infant against their skin, the baby thrives). Loving touch sends a direct signal of safety to the brain.

Emotional connection & trust:
Oxytocin rises when you feel seen and accepted. You can accomplish this through honest conversation, being listened to without judgment, expressing vulnerability and mutual eye contact (especially a slow, warm gaze). This also includes compassion for oneself, not just social connection.

Acts of care, kindness, and giving:
When we help or care for someone, or we are being cared for or helped, oxytocin increases (when we give or receive). You can also increase this hormone by expressing gratitude and caring for pets.

Self-compassion & forgiveness:
When we forgive ourselves for mistakes of the past or recent grievances, we feel less threatened and oxytocin can rise. Self-blame and shame keep the brain in threat mode which leads to higher cortisol levels. When you forgive yourself, self-attack mode quiets, cortisol levels decrease and the nervous system shifts towards safety.

Oxytocin is suppressed by threat, so removing the threat opens the door for its release. Self-forgiveness often includes kind inner language, acceptance, emotional warmth toward yourself. Not always easy! And sometimes we need support to help navigate through this if it’s too challenging on your own. The good news is, the brain doesn’t distinguish between compassion for others and compassion for self! Both engage the caregiving / bonding circuitry, which releases oxytocin.

Gentle self talk of self forgiveness, releasing shame and feeling emotionally safe with yourself can reduce stress very quickly so try practicing self compassion. Not sure where to start? Seek an experienced practitioner for support. Connect with us.

♡ The 4 Pillars of Self Care ♡

1) Having boundaries with other people means you are advocating for yourself and you are also taking care of yourself. This often means saying no, even when you think you might be disappointing someone. When we cross our boundaries over and over again, our psyche and our bodies feel pushed over and unacknowledged. By spending time tapping into oneself deeply, you can understand your mind and body needs and respond to those needs accordingly.

2) Rest - Almost everyone needs more rest these days. We live in a very chaotic society and time where there are never ending options of things to do and buy. Being disciplined into getting to bed earlier, or noticing when your mind/body is fatigued, can prevent burnout. Our bodies are designed to recover and heal but only if we give it that opportunity.

3) Pleasure - When we are doing something that makes us feel happy, we are producing endorphins and serotonin, feel good hormones. We can find pleasure in many things including being creative (playing an instrument), walking in nature and noticing the beautiful surroundings, enjoying and savoring a lovely meal, making love, watching your baby coo for the first time. So many moments to choose from. We just need to be present so we don't miss them! Hard to do with constant distractions so find mindful moments throughout your day so you can enjoy the pleasures life has to offer.

4) Choice - this is a good one as often we think we don't have a choice, but research shows when we access the salient network of our brain (the rationalizer, the balancer, the calm and grounded network that helps the processing and decision parts of the brain), that we realize we have more choices than we sometimes realize. Tapping into mindfulness can bring up incite you didn't know was available; helping you expand your choice options and choosing wisely. And yes, you do have a choice to say no; sometimes we don't think we have other choices due to fear of rejection or others' disappointment. Something to explore and be curious about!

Ever since Lehla was a little girl, she would read Alive magazines at her grandmothers house and be constantly inspired by the pictures of healthy and happy people. Although she was very young, she resonated with what she could read and the pictures she saw. As Lehla got older, she continued to enjoy the the awesome recipes and health tips so much, that over the years she had collected clippings and old issues of some of her favorite articles that encouraged her so much during her own health journey, 20 years ago. It brings her much pleasure to actually have a featured interviewed article in this month's January issue of the Alive magazine.

You'll find in the article mentioning some of the answers to questions asked of Lehla during the interview. She is grateful to be mentioned several times and that she had the opportunity to participate in this article!

Grab your January issue of Alive magazine while you can for great recipes and informative health tips. Available at Nature's Fare and Choices Natural Markets.
