Friends, the leadership team gathered yesterday and want to share a message with you:

At Vaapsi, recovery is only the beginning. Our work is about restoration: restoring dignity where shame once lived, restoring connection where isolation took hold, and restoring hope for Punjabi individuals and families affected by addiction.

The next three years mark a defining chapter in our journey. This is the time to strengthen our foundation, expand our programs, and ensure that no one seeking healing must choose between recovery and cultural belonging. At Vaapsi, individuals find a community that reflects their values, honours their identity, and walks beside them toward a sustainable future.

Guided by Sikh principles, grounded in community collaboration, and driven by an unwavering dedication to wellness, Vaapsi is building more than a program. We’re cultivating a recovery movement, one that will transform lives today and reshape our community for generations to come.

“Love is a verb” isn’t just something we hold onto for one day. It’s in the quiet, everyday moments: through care, structure, rest, and the small ways we choose ourselves.

For many, this season can hold complicated emotions. So we’re grounding ourselves in something steady and real: care that is practical, consistent, and rooted in dignity. Not perfection. Not performance. Just small actions, every day.

Through this initiative, we’re continuing to center community care—creating moments of comfort and encouragement for women navigating homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges. Because support shouldn’t be seasonal, and compassion shouldn’t have an expiry date.

Love is a verb, year-round.

Love Is a Verb - A Vaapsi Valentine’s Self-Love & Solidarity Initiative

Love isn’t just something we say.
It’s something we practice through care, intention, and showing up for one another.

This February, Vaapsi is reframing Valentine’s Day through a lens of self-love, dignity, and
community care.

Instead of centering the season on romantic expectations, Love Is a Verb invites our community
to turn compassion into action. Through thoughtful giving, collective awareness, and small acts
of care, we’re creating moments of comfort and connection for women who deserve to feel seen
and supported.

As part of the initiative, we will assemble and deliver self-love Valentine’s gift bags filled with
personal care items, wellness essentials, and handwritten notes of encouragement to residents
at Mazarine Lodge, a supportive housing program for women navigating homelessness,
addiction, and mental health challenges.

Every item is new. Every note is intentional. Every bag is a reminder: you matter.

Alongside the gift bags, we’re using our digital platforms to raise awareness about housing
insecurity and to encourage our community to practice compassion without voyeurism centering
dignity, not stories or images.

Because love isn’t performative.
It’s practical. It’s consistent. It’s collective.

This Valentine’s Day, love is a verb.

Friends, we focus on clarity, balance, and long-term stability.

Healing here is about strengthening the body, mind, relationships, and spirit. Not escaping discomfort. 🙏🏽.

Friends, psychological healing at Vaapsi is about creating safety, understanding patterns, and learning to meet the mind with compassion rather than judgment.

Healing happens when the mind feels heard, supported, and grounded within community.
