Do you have a job that requires you to sit at a desk, behind a computer, all day? A lot of people sit (and stand) with a slouched posture, or rounded shoulders. Having rounded shoulders can cause strain and built up tension, particularly across the shoulders and upper neck.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The best way to prevent upper back and shoulder pain is to practice proper posture. Shoulder blade squeezes are a good exercise to build shoulder and upper limb stability and strengthen the muscles that keep our shoulders in proper alignment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While seated or standing, pull the shoulder blades towards each other without shrugging your shoulders up to your ears. Hold for two seconds and let go. Repeat 10 times. Perform these sets 3-4 times a day.

Never skip leg day! Today we’re doing the sit to stand exercise. This is a great mobility exercise that strengthens not only your leg, but also core, and back muscles. These muscles are important to increase mobility as well as improve balance.

Start by sitting in a chair with your feet flat on the floor, shoulder width apart. Place your hands crossed in front of your chest. Push down on your feet and stand up. Be sure to keep your knees in line with your feet, instead of going over them.

If this exercise is too challenging, use your hands to help you get up. Or use a chair with sturdy armrests, and push off the arrests to help you come to standing.

Do you sit hunched over at a desk all day? Are you looking down at your phone for extended periods of time? You may have noticed your neck being tight, headaches, or a deep, achy pain in your upper back.

Being hunched over or leaning forward for prolonged periods of time stretches the levator scapulae muscle, causing pain and inflammation. By keeping the levator scapulae muscles stretched and flexible, you can prevent them from becoming stiff and painful. Time to stretch!

Sit or stand up straight, while keeping your shoulders down and your hands by your side. Turn your head towards your left shoulder about 45 degrees. Tilt the chin downward until you feel a stretch on the back right side of your neck. Hold for about 30 seconds. Perform 3 sets, 3 times a day.

If you feel pain on the left side of your neck, perform the exercise by turning your head to the right.

👉 These can all be signs of diastasis recti after pregnancy.

In this article, we explain:
• What diastasis recti actually is
• Common signs to watch for postpartum
• Myths about core exercises and lifting
• How pelvic health physiotherapy supports recovery
• What healing realistically looks like over time

Time to get the heart pumping with some small hops! These little jumps require no equipment and can be performed wherever and whenever. Jumping builds strength and improves muscle tone, is an excellent calorie-burner, improves balance and muscle coordination, metabolism and heart health.

So... let's get hopping!
1. Stand with your feet shoulder distance apart
2. Place your hands on your waist and slightly bend your knees
3. Hop upwards

Try to do as many small hops as you can in 30 seconds. And remember: we're going for speed, not height.
