Barn and Stable Regimental Trunks & Urns

Hello All. I've just partially completed one trunk using the last of the current materials I have on hand and will I be picking up new materials for any new orders coming; but before having to raise the prices (which aren't known at this point) I'm looking for one name to attach to this one. I haven't had to look for names since pre-COVID times - thankfully I've always had a healthy wait list to follow, but clearly the economy has affected the buying abilities for many members of the Force. I've had the luxury of "buying in bulk" to satisfy my lengthy wait-listed orders, but things have recently changed for me. Also, because I don't advertise, I rely on "word of mouth" exposure... This may change after the Summer. Having a less hectic schedule has been nice, but frankly I get bored without projects to fill the quiet times for me.

I also can't overlook the fact that costs of shipping my products to customers have continually increased over the years. These costs have no effect on my trunk pricing, it's just getting them out to you that is so hard to deal with. I've had to get creative in order to reduce these costs, which are out of my control.

Obviously the first name to respond will become the proud owner of one of my trunks, but sadly, there will be an "as-small-as-I-can-live-with" rise in prices. Thankfully I still have a small supply of US-purchased hardware that I acquired pre-tariffs, so the new prices are mostly going to reflect the new costs of the raw materials that I go through quickly which, undoubtedly have increased. I've managed to keep my prices stable since November 2023, even though production costs have still climbed. The new prices will be changed as soon as I know how some of these costs have been affected by the tariffs..

Update - April 2025

Hello folks and followers. I have been a bit remiss in updating my website, but I have tried to keep up with all the custom urn orders I've been asked to do. I currently have a very minimal wait list for trunk orders, which is normal for March on, after those nasty Christmas bills are cleared up. I still haven't raised my prices, since mid-2023 as a matter of fact, and shouldn't for a bit longer I hope.! All my pricing quoted on my website are current.

Here are a couple of the newest crests I've been asked to replicate and urns that have been customized by my customer's requests, I hope you like them.

The double urns have been most popular recently, with the laser engraving customized to represent both the member and their spouse; which has been a great addition to my gallery.

Hello again folks. I just wanted to add a few photos of more recent custom urns that have gone out the door. I have a good supply of the standard urns so, barring a mail strike, they are ready to send out. If you're interested in ordering a customized urn please understand that, depending on how it's being customized, it will take a few weeks to have it ready for shipment.

An update on the Regimental trunks - unfortunately there is not enough time now to have any more trunks ready pre-Christmas. I am still taking names for the next lists and I'll be able to move forward, once I get the last ones out the door for Christmas orders, for deliveries in the New Year.

A few new projects have been completed and delivered; there are more custom urns on the bench and I will have room again soon for trunk orders. Now that Fall is closing in on us quickly I expect to spend more time in the shop instead of being out on the fairways!

Hello and Welcome to my page. I have been painfully slow to update this post as I've been quite busy with custom orders, in addition to some family issues that took me away from the shop for a bit. I'm back to "normal" and I don’t have any significant wait times, not like during COVID, and I also wanted to introduce a new product I’ve been working on. This product, a framed laser engraved RCMP crest on plexiglass, has taken a bit to get the design down and reconfigure my tools, but I've been able to get some of these out most recently and I feel they look pretty nice.

These will be a great gift or personal purchase that can be customized with names, Regimental Numbers, Troop Numbers and/or pretty much anything else a person would want engraved on a trophy, but etched in the plexiglass. The RCMP crest is pretty much the same as that on the glass and plexiglass trunk plates which were introduced a couple of years ago… There will be some photos of the finished products added to my website as more orders come in but for now this should give you an idea of what to expect. The frame would make a great transfer/retirement gift for someone who has enough plaques, beer steins and wall hangings gathering dust, and would make a great addition beside a shabrack, or in lieu of one.

As these are a custom order, advance ordering would be necessary. Right now I haven’t built any numbers to be considered “stock piled”, but I have an order pending for more materials right now. They can be customized by material (ie: Oak, Cherry, Walnut) and stained to your personal preference; to match any furniture in the “Man Cave”, office or otherwise.

I plan to get better at keeping on top of information sharing and have decided that Facebook (Social Media) is much easier and less expensive to update when compared to having to change the design of my website continually. Hello Friends. I just thought I'd post details on one of my recent projects. I've recently been asked by the RCMP Foundation to provide a trunk for a fund raising raffle in Ottawa.. I expect tickets will become available soon, stay tuned as I will post any information I receive from the Foundation. Here is the raffle prize.. Each subsequent trunk, if there's a demand for any, will have its own MP serial number following this one! There isn't much different than what I build now, except the front crest. The raffle trunk will also have a set of tray and trunk liners included.

Update from the bench... Hello, I apologize for the long pause in updates but I have just sent out my last Christmas 2023 trunk order so the pressure is off again... I am so glad that my Christmas customers contacted me well in advance so their trunks would be completed and delivered for placing (under?) around the Christmas tree.. I have the pleasure of working on some of my own Christmas presents now without any worries about timing... I have also just replenished my "other" products so there's no worry about running short over the holidays, just a couple custom urns to work on and thankfully there's no particular rush.

Thankfully I've been able to maintain my prices due to larger purchases and have added another version of the "Glass Tops" emblazoned with the RCMP crest... These new versions are on 9mm Plexiglass and look just like the glass versions, only lighter and easier to move around. I hope to have some on hand again shortly; I sent out 5 of them as Christmas presents so am completely out, for now.

Hello from Barn and Stable Regimental Trunks & Urns for December 2023. First, I apologize for not updating this page for a while. I have been quite busy in the shop and have finally sent off the remaining Christmas 2023 Trunk orders so they will arrive well ahead of the Big Day. Thank you to those who ordered their trunks well in advance as it took a lot of pressure off me to get them done and out the door so they can be under the tree (well, sort of) as promised.

One particular observation from my customers is the cost of shipping. I wanted to address this globally but until now, I've been otherwise occupied. What really brought this to mind was watching a Global News story relating to a recent FedEx delivery gone bad here in Surrey (but it could happen anywhere with any courier company). Last year I changed from using the typical courier firms to engaging a shipping agent and subsequent trucking company to ensure my deliveries are safely secured and away from potential unprofessional delivery drivers. It happened once, when a driver decided to forgo the dolly to just man-handling the trunk, boxed up of course, and on the way to the front porch he/she dropped it. The box landed on one of the top corners, which damaged the lid and bent the hinges. Unfortunately, the trunk couldn't be placed back in perfect condition so I simply built a new one and the insurance company paid for a lot of the costs. I don't want to have this occur again, so if you decide to order a trunk to be shipped, I just wanted you to be aware of this. The costs using the trucking company are actually less than the typical couriers, however, this new method doesn't include a porch/driveway delivery - instead, the trunks go to the trucking depot and they have to get picked up.
