📢Attention Dressage Competitors- 2026 Rule Update

There’s a new Equestrian Canada Dressage rule change for 2026 regarding spurs that riders should be aware of as they prepare for the upcoming season.

🔹ARTICLE E 4.2.8.6 - SPURS
If rowels are used, they must point directly backward from the center of the spur and must be mounted vertically. The contact area of a roweled spur must be blunt/smooth (no sharp edges), and free to rotate.

⚠️Important Change:
Serrated rowels has been removed from the EC rulebook. The interpretation is that serrated rowels are now illegal. Serrated rowels are also not permitted under FEI rules.

Please make sure your equipment complies before heading into competition.

The Dressage New Brunswick board would like to send sincere condolences to the family of Doris Lilly Ward. Doris has been a DNB member for many years. She became a Level 1 coach and found great satisfaction in teaching many students to ride. As an avid horse woman with a great sense of competition Doris will be dearly missed by all of us here in the Dressage community.

Updated message from Vivian about the Adult Summer Camp:

Hello everyone!

Thanks for expressing an interest in the Adult Summer Riding Camp that I am attempting to organize. Nothing is confirmed at this point, but I hope to make a few firm decisions in the next two weeks.

Here’s what I have:
Dates: July 1 through July 5
Location: 51 Acres Stables

No one is expected to participate for the whole duration (although you are welcome to). You are welcome to come for day camp or stable overnight as many or few days as you want!
I have decided to let everyone take care of their own accommodations. There is a campsite very close by and several hotels to choose from (although I’m sure it will be their busy season, so book a room soon!)

The basic costs of the Camp:
Facility rental of $50/day.
Stalls are $25/day.
Some sessions – such as trail riding - will be at a minimal charge.
Lessons with Birgit Epskamp Valkenborg will be approx. $150 each lesson plus a share of the cost of her flight.
Some other activities in the planning stages are:
•Ground work with Jannah Malone
•Pole and Caveletti session
•Kinesiology Taping with Christa Veinotte
•Wine tasting
•Pilates
•Nutrition talks
•Grooming hints

I hope to have someone cater lunches so there will be a charge for that too. I hope we can all go to dinner at one of Moncton’s many great restaurants one night.
Auditors are welcome! We may charge for some sessions, but I will keep it minimal.
