Coming off a month dedicated to celebrating inclusive workplaces through DEAM, we’re proud to recognize and celebrate the three finalists for the Employer of Persons Experiencing Disability category, that we proudly sponsor, at this year’s SCBEX Awards.

These businesses exemplify what it means to champion inclusion and celebrate the valuable contributions made by individuals experiencing disability. Thank you for leading by example and helping create a more inclusive community for all.

With the SCBEX Awards taking place tomorrow night, we want to wish all the amazing finalists in every category the very best of luck — we’ll be cheering you on! 💚✨

WOW, Swift Current – we did it!

Not that we’re competitive, but our goal this year was to help take Saskatchewan from 4th place in 2024 to number 1 in Canada for Light It Up for DEAM… and we absolutely SMASHED it!

Thanks to the incredible support of our business community and residents, not only did Saskatchewan claim the top spot in Canada, but Swift Current was named the #1 most lit-up city in all of Saskatchewan! 🥳

We are beyond PROUD to see our community come together to celebrate inclusion and show support for Disability Employment Awareness Month.

THANK YOU, Swift Current, for helping us make this goal a reality and for proving that inclusion truly shines brightest right here at home! 💙💜

Thank you for sharing City of Swift Current!

Today marks the first day of SaskAbilities Partners in Employment Disability Employment Awareness Week (yes, it’s a bit of a mouthful, but such an important one!). This week ties in perfectly with October’s Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) and gives us the chance to recognize the valuable contributions that individuals experiencing disability or barriers to employment make in our local workforce. 👏

Our Partners in Employment team works year-round to support individuals in preparing for, finding, and maintaining meaningful employment, while also partnering with businesses to create inclusive workplaces. Their dedication was clearly reflected last week through the unreal number of employers who participated in Light it Up for NDEAM—a true celebration of inclusion in our community. 💙

Throughout the week, we’ll be highlighting some of those incredible employers who make inclusion in the workplace a priority.

At last week's City Council meeting, we heard from SaskAbilities - Swift Current Region who attended to proclaim October 19 - 25, 2025 as "SaskAbilities Partners in Employment Disability Employment Awareness Week". Presenting the matter to Council were Denise Cook, Employment Specialist of the Partners in Employment program, and Kim Furey, Program Manager. The purpose of the initiative is to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace and community, and to advocate for equitable employment opportunities.

To say we live in one of the most supportive, inclusive, and community-minded cities feels like an understatement!

Today, our community joins together for Light it Up! for DEAM (Disability Employment Awareness Month) — a national initiative that shines a light on the valuable contributions individuals experiencing disability make in the workforce.

As an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals experiencing disability, we are PROUD to see Swift Current glowing in purple and blue tonight in support of inclusive employment.

When you’re out and about tonight and see the city glowing in purple and blue, remember that every light represents a workplace that values inclusion and opportunity for ALL.

We are beyond grateful for the incredible show of support.
Thank you, Swift Current! 💜💙
