Our Surgical Bras are inspired by real patients and designed by plastic surgeons to provide the gentle compression and support needed after breast surgery. They help minimise swelling, support healing tissue, and assist in maintaining optimal surgical results — all while keeping you comfortable during recovery.

You can purchase these directly from Dr Marieta Van Der Vyver’s practice. If you’re preparing for surgery or currently in recovery and unsure which style is best for you, our team will gladly guide you to the right fit and style.

We also have an informative video that explains more about the bras: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mBOqSNRffRAa_qOS9PZCgeJjBQg_ZoE1/view?pli=1

We’re sharing findings from a recent study on a specialised nerve transfer technique designed to improve lower lip movement and facial balance in patients with facial nerve paralysis.

The research showed improved facial symmetry, better lower lip control, and meaningful gains in speaking and eating function — with safe recovery outcomes for suitable patients.

We’re proud to share this evidence-based work with our community and keep you informed about advances in reconstructive care.

Keloids & Hypertrophic Scars
Not all scars heal the same way.

Keloids and hypertrophic scars occur when the body produces excess scar tissue. While hypertrophic scars stay within the original wound, keloids grow beyond it and can become uncomfortable, restrictive, or painful.

With the right surgical approach and structured aftercare, scar regrowth can be significantly reduced and long-term outcomes improved over time.
If you’re struggling with raised or problematic scars, expert assessment makes all the difference.

🔍 Spot Melanoma Early — It Can Save Your Life

Skin cancer doesn’t always look obvious. That’s why knowing what to look for is so important.

Use the ABCD(E) rule to check your moles and skin changes regularly:

A – Asymmetry
One half doesn’t match the other.

B – Border
Edges are uneven, blurry, or jagged.

C – Colour
Multiple colours or patchy shades within one mole.

D – Diameter
Larger than 6mm (about the size of a pencil eraser).

E – Evolving
Any change in size, shape, colour, itching, or bleeding.

⚠️ If you notice any of these signs, don’t wait. Early detection of melanoma can be life-saving.

If you’re unsure about a spot or mole, it’s always better to have it checked.
