In a world where everyone is always talking about balance and most of us feel it is impossible to accomplish. Today I'm balancing the negative with some positive. 6am yoga class, walk on the beach and then a pregnancy massage where I'm paying it forward. The cooler weather is here but it's nice to have my feet in the sand.

It only takes 4 days to get sober.

And someone told me this week that they counted to 4.

That's it.

They didn't check into rehab.

They didn't call a hotline.

They didn't Google their symptoms at 2am.

They didn't ask permission.

They just stopped.

And they counted to 4.

Because I told them that's all it takes for the poison to leave their body.

4 days.

And on day 4 they sent me a message that said "I did it. Now what?"

That "now what" is the most important question in recovery.

And nobody answers it.

Because the entire system is built around getting you to stop.

Not around teaching you what to do once you did.

They hand you a chip.

They hand you a book.

They hand you a sponsor's phone number.

But nobody hands you an identity.

Nobody says "okay the poison is gone... now who are you?"

Because that question is terrifying.

You spent years being the person who drinks.

Now the drink is gone and you're standing in a room full of silence wondering who the hell you are without it.

That's not weakness. That's the starting line.

And most people relapse right here.

Not because the cravings came back.

Not because the withdrawal was too hard.

Because nobody taught them how to exist in the silence.

4 days got the poison out.

But the real work is learning to live in a body that isn't numb anymore.

Feeling things at full volume for the first time in years.

Sitting with boredom without reaching for something.

Going to sleep without shutting your brain off first.

That's the work nobody talks about.

That's the part that actually changes your life.

And it doesn't start in a meeting room or a rehab center.

It starts the moment you ask "now what?" and actually mean it.

Fun fact; whiskey pushes things out, expels things from the body, like pathogens, opens pores. (Obviously if you have too much it will expel more then a pathogen). The reason I find this interesting is being around people from different backgrounds Whiskey has been something I noticed used a lot for colds and flu's. Such as a hot totty or a shot of whiskey to warm you up when in a cold environment like a fishing boat or ski hill. So now this makes sense as to why it is used.

Huang Ti Nei Ching Su Wen: nowadays we use wine as a beverage and reckless behaviour is usual. Enter love in an intoxicated condition, passion exhaust vital forces, cravings dissipate true essence, we can not find contentment within ourselves, we are not skilled in the control of our spirit. Devote all attention to the amusement of our minds, thus cutting ourselves off from the joys of a long life. Rising and retiring is without regularity. This is why we degenerate. Take what you will from this. 🥰
