Maritime Environmental Training Institute (METI), a Private Career College located in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, has been providing quality, industry driven training since 1998. We are registered with the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education and are a member of the Private Career Colleges Association of Nova Scotia (PCANS) and the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC)

As a cross-industry training provider, METI serves as a third party trainer with Enform, the training provider for Canada’s upstream oil and gas industry, while we are an associated member of the Alberta Construction Safety Association and a recognized Service and Training Provider for the Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA). We are a member of the International Association of Drilling Contractors and a distributor for BuildForce Canada (formally known as the Construction Sector Council). We are an Accredited Training Institute for Scaffold Access Industry Association (SAIA), being the only Private Career College to deliver SAIA scaffolding training in Canada. METI is a licensed Driver Training School in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations. METI delivers online and instructor-led training to individuals receiving initial career training and experienced workers within industry who are upgrading or acquiring new skills. Since opening our doors, METI purchased Hatscan Online, an online training venture which provided training for over 40,000 active users and over 500 businesses. In addition to the global reach of our online training, METI has delivered instructor-led training in locales such as Scotland and Bangladesh. Currently, along with our classroom-based training, METI’s learning management system (LMS) provides and administers training across 4 continents. Our online system continues to allow supervisors and managers regulation over training and records with our Administration Control feature. Continued development and enhancement are top priorities for METI, and we continue to do this to provide the best training experience to our students and clients. Since acquiring our new campus in 2012, METI’s Sydney, Nova Scotia location boasts a training facility, complete with two building units with over 22000 square feet and a fully developed training yard. Our college accredited programs include a diploma, conferring upon its graduate the title Environmental Health and Safety Technician, while other training includes Oilfield and Construction Skilled Labourer Certificate Program, SAIA Scaffolding Erector Certificate Program and Construction and Oilfield Driver (Class 3) Certificate Program. In addition, we offer a wide variety of industry-specific training.
