Microcurrent Point Stimulation (MPS) is a scientifically developed therapeutic approach that brings together principles from modern neurology, fascia science, and electrotherapy to help support pain relief and tissue function in the body.

Here is a clear breakdown of how it works👇🏼

1. Scar tissue alters normal tissue signaling
When the body heals after surgery or injury, scar tissue forms with:
altered collagen alignment
reduced glide between tissue layers
disrupted bioelectrical signaling
increased neural sensitivity or guarding
Even years later, scars can remain neurologically active, meaning the nervous system continues to protect the area.

2. Microcurrent targets the scar–nerve–fascia connection
The Dolphin MPS device delivers very low-level microcurrent (measured in millionths of an amp) to specific points in and around the scar.
This microcurrent:
mirrors the body’s natural electrical signals
stimulates sensory nerve endings (A-delta and C fibers)
influences the autonomic nervous system response
Because scars are richly innervated, this neural input is key.

3. Nervous system “down-regulation” allows release
Many scars remain restricted because the nervous system perceives the area as unsafe.
MPS helps:
reduce protective muscle guarding
calm hypersensitive nerve input
normalize reflexive tension patterns
When the nervous system stops bracing, tissue tone changes almost immediately.
This is why people often feel:
warmth
softening
increased range of motion
reduced pulling or pain during or right after treatment

4. Improved tissue hydration and glide
As neural tone decreases:
fascial layers regain movement
circulation improves
lymphatic drainage increases
tissue hydration improves
This allows scar tissue to become more pliable and integrated with surrounding tissue instead of acting like a fixed anchor.

5. Cumulative change with repeated sessions
One session can create noticeable changes in mobility, sensation, or pain
Multiple sessions support longer-term remodeling and nervous system retraining
This is especially important for:
surgical scars
C-sections
orthopedic injuries
chronic pain patterns with no obvious cause

Fun Fact Friday 🧠🐎
Some might not know this about me, but I’m a certified equine body worker.

Although I don’t practice equine bodywork directly with anyone other than close family and friends, my training in equine anatomy and physiology strongly informs my work with riders. The horse–rider system functions as a biomechanical partnership, and compensation patterns frequently develop across both bodies. When a rider experiences pain, restriction, or weakness during or after riding, the horse is often compensating in related regions—and vice versa.

As a lifelong rider, this perspective has been invaluable. Understanding shared load, movement strategies, and neuromuscular adaptations allows me to better assess and support riders in the clinical setting, with the goal of improving comfort, performance, and longevity.

If you’re a rider in the area experiencing pain, tension, or movement limitations, you’re welcome to book an appointment with me to see how this approach may support your riding and recovery 🐎✨

Hi 👋🏼
I’m a Registered Massage Therapist now practicing at Snap Fitness in Sylvan Lake, and I’m so excited to be part of this community.

Massage therapy is about so much more than muscles. The body works as a whole system, and when we support the nervous system, lymphatic system, immune system, and musculoskeletal system together, real and lasting change can happen. My goal is always to assess the root of what’s going on and help restore balance so your body can do what it’s designed to do: heal.

I’m deeply passionate about continuing education and lifelong learning. I love blending the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the years with new insights from other incredibly talented holistic therapists and specialists. There is always more to learn, and I believe the best care comes from collaboration, curiosity, and truly listening to the body.

If you’re ready to start your healing journey, I’d be honoured to support you 🤍

Hi, I’m Holly 👋🏼

I’m a Registered Massage Therapist with over 10 years of experience, and I’m so excited to be offering massage therapy here in Sylvan Lake at Snap Fitness.

My approach is therapeutic and client-centered — I take time to listen, assess, and treat the root cause of your symptoms rather than just chasing pain. I use a combination of techniques including therapeutic and deep tissue massage, manual therapy, orthopaedic massage, myofascial release, cupping, neurokinetic therapy, and MPS scar release therapy to help restore balance and function in the body.

I believe the body has an incredible ability to heal when given the right conditions. Every session is personalized, and when appropriate, I’ll also send you home with simple stretches or exercises to support your recovery.
If you’re dealing with chronic pain, stress, injury, or simply need space to reset, I’m here to support you 🤍

Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis) and Golfers Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis) as well as tendinitis or tendinopathy — often occurs with overuse of your forearm muscles. Tendon injury and inflammation causes forearm pain near your elbow or wrist joints, where the tendon attaches to the bone. These conditions may also cause swelling, decreased movement and weakness.

Lower Back Pain - 7 Essential Moves for Pain Relief & Strengthening Muscles

Overview

Lower back pain is a fairly common health issue, partly because so many things can cause it.

In some cases, it might be a symptom of an underlying condition, such as kidney stones or fibromayalgia. Other times, it’s simply a side effect of a sedentary lifestyle or reptitive motions.

Regardless of what’s causing your lower back pain, these seven moves can help to reduce the pain and strengthen the muscles in your lower back.

First, a few quick tips

It’s important that you stretch your lower back with safety and care. Be especially gentle and cautious if you have any type of injury or health concern.

You can do these stretches once or twice a day. But if the pain seems to get worse, or you’re feeling very sore, take a day off from stretching.

As you go through these stretches, take your time and play close attention to your breathing. Use your breath as a guide to make sure you don’t strain or overdo it. You should be able to breathe comfortably and smoothly throughout each pose or stretch. And remember to only stretch your muscles after your muscles are warm. Stretching your muscles before strenuous activity, such as running or lifting weights, can increase your chance of creating a muscle tear.

Stress Management- Chronic stress puts your health at risk and can wreak havoc on your physical body. Take steps to control your stress.

Breathing Fundamentals

When you take a deep breath in, your heart rate quickens slightly. As you exhale, your heart rate slows. Repeated deep breaths will naturally bring your heart rate more in sync with your breath. This leads your brain to release endorphins, which are chemicals that have a natural calming effect. But if you’re stuck shallow breathing, that endorphin release doesn’t happen.

This calming effect can be so significant that there’s research linking to a reduction in stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms; as well as improved sleep and focus. And it all comes back to the breath.

But that’s not all that happens.

The brain is so oxygen dependent, using 20% of the body’s oxygen supply. And just like any other body part, if it doesn’t get what it needs, symptoms can manifest. So, a deficit in oxygen could cause you to feel foggy, unfocused, or on edge.
