August is National Immunization Awareness month, a reminder that vaccinations aren't just for kids.
For seniors, staying up to date on recommended vaccines can help prevent serious illness and keep you healthy all year round. Common vaccines for older adults may include:
-Flu shot (annually)
-COVID-19 boosters
-Shingles vaccine
-Pneumonia vaccine
-Tetanus and pertussis booster (as needed)
Vaccines are one of the simplest ways to protect not just yourself, but also your loved ones and community.
If you're unsure which vaccines you or your loved one may need, talk to your healthcare provider or local pharmacist. They can help you make a plan that's right for you.
Your health is worth protecting!πŸ’™

Getting a good night's sleep is so important!

Here are 5 tips to get a better sleep:
-Stick to a regular sleep schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day.
-Create a calming bedtime routine: Try reading, light stretching, or soft music before bed.
-Limit naps during the day: Short naps are okay, but long or late naps can disrupt nighttime sleep.
-Stay active during the day: Gentle activity like walking helps improve nighttime rest.
-Limit screen time before bed: The light from phones or TVs can make it harder to fall asleep.

Most older adults need 7 to 8 hours of quality sleep each night to feel their best.
Prioritizing sleep isn't just about rest, it's about helping you live each day with energy, clarity, and joy.

Summer is here!

Longer days, warm breezes, and blooming gardens make this a wonderful season to enjoy simple pleasures with family and friends.

For our seniors and caregivers, summer is a perfect time to:

-Sit outside and enjoy fresh air (in the shade!)
-Tend to a few flowers or herbs
-Treat yourself to a cool ice cream or iced tea
-Read a favorite book by an open window
-Spend quality time with loved ones

As the temperatures rise, remember to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and take breaks in the shade or indoors.

We wish you a safe, happy, and sunny start to summer!
