Long, sappy post alert!
For 23 years I have been a First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor but it is time to officially hang up my....rubber gloves, haha.
I am finding this really hard as this has not just been a job to me but has been so much a part of who I am. I really feel like it was the perfect fit.
The best part was that I had a captive audience who had to listen to my jokes, and probably felt like they had no choice but to laugh! Mwahaha. Kidding aside. I had the BEST clients for those 23 years. I never once had to advertise a course beyond a quick little post on Facebook and sending an email to my loyal clientele list, as my courses would book up so quickly through word of mouth.
The best feeling would be when I would get a phone call or text with a story of how someone was able to use their skills. My entire goal was to make people feel confident enough to step in to help in an emergency, and to know that it is ok if not everything is done perfectly.
Over the years, I have met so many people all over the province, made some great friends, heard a MILLION REALLY CRAZY stories, had a million more laughs, folded thousands of triangular bandages, rolled a lot of people into the recovery position, done a lot of chest compressions, splinted a lot of fake injuries and enjoyed every single minute of it.
One time, I was caught off guard when I had someone clap at the end of my course. He said it was because it was such an amazing course and he thoroughly enjoyed it…but I’m pretty sure he was just so excited that it was finally over. 😂
So, if you ever were in one of my classes, I sincerely thank you for coming. I loved my job. ❤️🩹
Take a first aid course. Learn CPR. You won’t regret it.
