πͺ One Week Later: Healing After the Hurricane π―π²π
It has been one week since the hurricane changed life as we knew it. Across our island, many are still searching for loved ones, sleeping under the open sky, and struggling to find food and clean water. We see you. We feel your pain. And we want to remind you β your feelings are valid.
Witnessing and surviving a hurricane of this magnitude can leave deep emotional scars. Itβs normal to feel anxious, on edge, hopeless, or even numb. These are signs of trauma β not weakness.
π Ways to Cope in This Difficult Time:
Talk about what youβve been through. Share your experience with someone you trust β it helps lighten the emotional load.
Take care of your body. Eat what you can, stay hydrated, and rest whenever possible.
Limit distressing news. Stay informed, but give your mind a break from constant updates.
Breathe and ground yourself. Simple breathing exercises can calm anxiety in moments of fear.
Reach out for help. Support is available β emotionally, spiritually, and within your community.
At MMC, we continue to stand with our people. Our team has made donations to ongoing relief efforts and will continue to do so as recovery unfolds.
If youβd like to help, please donate through the official Government of Jamaica relief fund:
