Doula comes from a Greek word that means "a woman who serves" or "handmaiden". Offering Informational, Emotional & Physical Support

As a Birth Doula I assist with developing a birth plan, offering information about all aspects of birth and delivery options. Relaxation, breathing and meditation techniques for labor. Numerous studies have found that a doula's presence at birth
-results in shorter labors
-reduces negative feelings about the experience
-reduces the requests for pain medications
-reduces the need for interventions
-reduces the % of cesarian sections

Women have complex needs during childbirth and the weeks that follow. In addition to medical care and the love and compassion provided by their partners, women need consistent, continuous reassurance, comfort and encouragement and respect. They need individualized care based on their circumstances and preferences. Doulas are educated and experienced in childbirth and the postpartum period. We offer a loving touch; positioning and comfort measures that make childbearing women and families feel nurtured and cared for. | Caesarean is the only surgery where seven layers of tissue are opened and the mother is expected to stand up six hours later, taking responsibility for one more person, not to mention the intense uterus contractions, product of the Stimulation of mammary glands, release of oxytocin... etc.

If you're a mother via cesarean, you're stronger than you think. Be proud of yourself.

Windsor-Essex hospitals are proactively addressing patient visitation - mandating proof of vaccination before visiting a patient in the hospital.

Starting August 30, 2021, Windsor Regional Hospital and Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare will require everyone visiting a patient in the hospitals to provide proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result before their visit. Erie Shores HealthCare will be implementing the same policy starting September 7, 2021.

Midwives are the only primary care providers in Ontario who receive extensive education and training to help you safely give birth at home.

If you are experiencing a low risk pregnancy, the health outcomes are similar whether you plan a home or hospital birth under the care of a midwife.

Home birth can include a water birth. Ask your midwife for more information.
